United Educators (UE) is expanding its online resources to make it even easier for you and others at your school to get the information you need to manage specific risks. UE Online Courses Education-specific Each course is based on UE claims experience with the 1,200 schools, colleges, and universities we cover. We ve designed these tools to help you navigate the unique risks associated with educational institutions from business affairs, such as contracting, to student affairs, such as short-term international programs. Engaging UE s online courses are designed to be taken in an hour or less. Multiple quizzes and tools ensure that the user not only gains new information, but interacts while learning to ensure retention of new concepts. Most courses feature a final quiz to help the learner understand to what extent he or she has successfully mastered the information. Ongoing review throughout the course provides real-time feedback regarding learning. Efficient Online learning provides an easy way for you to deliver training to students, staff, and faculty. Users have expressed positive feedback regarding the ability to take courses on their own schedule, in their preferred location (at home or at their school), and at their own pace. UE Online Courses: K-12 Schools Accessing Online Courses Staff, faculty, and students at member institutions can quickly and easily access the online courses offered by UE: Access through the UE website. If a staff or faculty member has access to the UE website, he or she can simply login and access the online courses through the Learn@UE section of www.ue.org. Access the courses directly. UE online courses are available to your entire school community. Learners can go directly to elearning.ue.org or www.studentfyi.com and register with an institution code to take a course. Email websupport@ue.org or call (301) 215-9548 to learn more and to obtain a faculty/staff or student code for your school. Reporting To help UE members take their training programs a step further, school administrators have the ability to identify individuals that have completed a UE online course. Our Institution Course Completion Reports are available on UE s learning management system. To enable report access for your school, please send an email to websupport@ue.org. UE Online Courses For K-12 Schools Contracting Contracting Fundamentals Poor contracting practices such as failure to use a written contract to document key terms, omitting review of a written agreement before signature, or signing without authority can create needless liability. This course helps school employees avoid contract disputes and problems and promotes good contracting practices at your school. Harassment/Discrimination Preventing Workplace Harassment Workplace harassment can demean employees and create a negative work environment, destroying the sense of community and shared mission that is unique to educational institutions. Transportation Safety Driver Safety Training When faced with the serious responsibility of driving on school business and transporting passengers, drivers must be ready for the unexpected. Proper preparation for trips, minor adjustments to driving habits, and elimination of distractions can all help reduce risks on the road. This course will help those driving on school business to identify and mitigate these risks, and learn specific strategies for handling potential accidents and other emergency situations. Alcohol Prevention for High School Students Many high school students overestimate alcohol use by peers, which can often lead to unsafe attempts to keep up with exaggerated levels of alcohol consumption. This course is designed to reduce adolescent alcohol use and risk-taking behaviors by correcting unhealthy attitudes and false perceptions; demonstrating alcohol s adverse consequences to health, academic performance, and social relationships; and offering strategies on how teens can protect themselves against the use and abuse of alcohol.
