Section I. Introduction to this User Guide FSA 2015 2016 This user guide supports test administrators accessing the Assessment Viewing Application (AVA). AVA is a component of the Test Delivery System that allows students with paper-based accommodations to listen to the audio passages or access American Sign Language (ASL) videos for the listening items in the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) Grades 4 10 and Retake English Language Arts (ELA) Reading tests. This introduction describes the contents of this document and includes a key for identifying icons and elements found throughout the guide. Section II. Logging in to AVA The FSA Portal provides test administrators with access to AVA. To access AVA via the FSA Portal: 1. Select the Test Administration card. Figure 1. FSA Portal Card 2. Select the AVA icon. The login page appears. 3. Enter your email address and password. 4. Click Secure Login. Figure 2. AVA Portal Card Figure 3. Login Page 4
Section III. Accessing Assessments This section explains how to select tests in AVA. Step 1 Choosing a Test Grade After logging in, the Choose a Test Grade page appears. Figure 4. Choose a Test Grade Page 1. From the Student Grade Level drop-down list, select the appropriate grade level. 2. Select Next. The Available Tests page appears. Note: Select 10 from the Student Grade Level drop-down menu to access both the Reading Retake and Grade 10 Listening items. Step 2 Selecting the Test The Available Tests page displays the tests available for the selected grade level. Figure 5. Available Tests Page 1. Select the test name. The Confirm Test Form page appears. 5
Step 3 Confirming the Test and Selecting the Test Form FSA 2015 2016 The Confirm Test Form page displays the test form as well as a Session ID, which generates automatically after you select a test. Figure 6. Confirm Test Form Page 1. Choose the correct test form from the Test Form field. (If the incorrect test is listed, select No to return to the login screen and select the correct grade.) 2. Select Next. The Sound Check page appears. Step 4 Sound Check The Sound Check page allows you to verify the functionality of the system s audio features. Figure 7. Sound Check Page To perform the sound check: 1. Unmute the speakers on the computer or device, if necessary. 2. Select the icon. 3. If you hear a sound, select Yes. The first passage set appears. 4. If you do not hear a sound, select No and notify the technology coordinator. 6
Section IV. General Test Rules and Navigation Listening to Passages When students without an ASL accommodation encounter an audio passage in their test and answer book, they will see the following directions. Access these passages in AVA and play the passage clip for students. You may need to scroll down to see the passage with the audio clip. Figure 8. Passage with Audio Clip To listen to audio: 1. To play audio, select the icon. 2. To pause audio, select the icon. (Note: The will only be available while audio is playing.) o You may also click and drag the scrubber ( ) to move to a different point in the audio clip. 7
Viewing ASL Videos FSA 2015 2016 When students with an ASL accommodation encounter an audio passage in their test and answer book, they will see the following directions. Access these passages in AVA and play the ASL video for students. Figure 9. Sample ASL Video in AVA To access the ASL video: 1. Open the passage context menu. 2. Select American Sign Language. The video appears in a pop-up window and can be moved around the page as needed. 8
Pausing Tests You may pause the test at any time. Pausing the test automatically logs you out of AVA. To return to the test, you must log back in and select the appropriate test again. To pause the test: 1. Select Pause in the top left corner. An Attention message appears. 2. Select Yes to confirm that you want to pause the test. Test Timeout (Due to Inactivity) As a security measure, you are automatically logged out of AVA after 90 minutes of inactivity. Note: Before AVA logs you out, a warning message appears on the screen. If you do not select OK within 30 seconds, you will be logged out. Finishing the Test After listening to or viewing all the audio passages in a test, you will see the Finished button appear at the top of the page. Figure 10. Finished Button When you select Finished, an Attention message appears and provides two options: Click Yes to log out. Click No to continue listening to or viewing the audio passages. Figure 11. Attention Message When you click Yes, the Need to return to the passages? screen displays. You can choose to go back to review the audio passages or choose No to complete the session. 9
