Mark Check Your Calendars! Out Our Training Calendar The new academic year is a perfect time to refresh or enhance your professional or supervisory skills. Brush up on your delegation skills; learn how to address your emotions in the workplace or resolve conflicts with peers. The Organizational Learning and Development Department offers training programs in these core competencies, as well as many other key areas for helping you build the necessary skills to be more effective. Wow your colleagues and get recognition at the Employee Recognition Ceremony! Earn a Certificate of Achievement for completing a set number of programs within a three year period. First Annual University Wide Staff Development Day A Big Success! More than one hundred Pace staff members attended the first annual Pace University Staff Development Day on 7th at the Graduate Center in White Plains. This event, open to all Pace University staff, offered a selection of seventeen training programs offered by ten Pace departments. Programs offered included: Kronos 101 MS Lync Demo One Minute Relaxation Addressing Emotions at Work Supporting LGBTQA Students on Campus Technology Training Demo and many more! Training Technology Services FY 2012 was an exciting year with regard to new technology initiatives at Pace University as well as technology training opportunities being offered. Partnering with ITS, OSA, Finance and various other divisions and schools, training was provided on: Banner 2 We look forward to continuing the event next year with more exciting programs. It s Performance Review Time! The FY2012 Performance Management Development Process (PMDP) Review Process and the FY2013 Goal Setting are currently in progress. The FY2012 PMDP review should be completed, approved, and submitted to Human Resources by September 28, 2012. Based on your feedback, we have made a

To answer the demand for online training solutions for University software, systems and processes, Technology Training Services is developing interactive online courses and video reference guides to complement and enhance the instructor led training. Technology Training Services can provide tailored elearning solutions or train your team in the necessary tools and skills to create your own solutions. And Stay Tuned Our University Organizational Software, OrgPlus will be upgraded this coming winter 2012-2013. Some changes will include: improved user interface, optimized navigation, smart lists and enhanced chart printing and publishing. Look for instructor-led as well as online training opportunities covering these exciting changes! Some highlighted enhancements to the PMDP review process this year: Deleted Job Specific Competency Section and Corresponding tab: The Job Specific Competency Section is now included in core and management competency sections. It no longer requires the employee to complete. Comment box: An option has been made available for the supervisor to add comments if competency does not meet expectations or met some expectations. Reviews can print after end date: Performance reviews can be printed from the system once the approver and employee have signed off and the PMDP end date has passed. System Review: When employee or supervisor hits the save or submit button a log with a timestamp is created. The log can be reviewed by clicking the link system review. Color Coded Save and Submit buttons: The save and submit buttons have been color coded to clarify the appropriate action. A Link to Goal Setting: A link from the PMDP system to goal setting system and vice versa has been added. The FY2013 Goal Setting form is available for you to input your performance goals and expectations for the July 2012-2013 period. Submit your goals and Individual Development Plan (IDP) to your supervisor by September 1, 2012. 3 For questions about completing the PMDP or Goal Setting process, the Performance Management and Development Process (PMDP) and Goal Setting Guide and an on-line Goal Setting Tutorial are available as resources. Leadership Forum 2012 Managing Successfully at Pace University A New Mandatory Program! Pace University s annual Leadership Forum was held on 1, 2012. James O. Pawelski, Ph.D. presented this year s topic, Maximizing Employee Engagement Through Positive Psychology: Creating a Strengths-Based Work Place. This year s Forum saw, for the first time, participation in the program by faculty as Professors Ross Robak, Anthony Mancini, and Paul Griffin facilitated the small group activity and conducted an interactive audience dialogue. The participant feedback was excellent this year with 85% of respondents to the evaluation survey reporting that, overall, they were very satisfied or satisfied with the session. The Manager s Toolbox A manager s most valuable resource 4 The Organizational Learning & Development Department has a new program titled Managing Successfully at Pace University. This course, introduced in Fall 2011, is mandatory for all newly hired and promoted managers, and recommended for incumbent managers. It provides the necessary references for and knowledge of University policies and procedures, as well as an understanding of the manager s role at Pace.
