User Interface For detailed information on creating any display, please refer to the on-line ProphetX Help selection from the ProphetX Main Menu. Global ProphetX Preferences The File/Preferences selection from the main menu bar will set all userdefined preferences for ProphetX. You will want to set these preferences before doing anything else in ProphetX 3.0, as it will affect all of the displays you use. Remember to make selections at the root of the directories as well as within the sub-sections. (+) The File Preferences can also be accessed by clicking on the Preferences button on the main button bar. 2
Navigating ProphetX Docked Panes The Docked Window Panes are located at the left side of the screen. They are minimized when not in use. When you click on one of panes, it will expand to show selections available. (Various selections will be described within the ProphetX features described in the rest of this document.) To Hide the Docked Panes completely, select View from the Main Menu and uncheck Docked Window. The Context Tool Bar is located at the bottom of the window frame. In File/Preferences/General Preferences you can set the status to Auto Hide Context Toolbar or show on every display. The F2 key toggles the toolbar off or on, regardless of which preference you ve selected. Use the buttons on the Context Tool Bar to make changes to the contents of that display. (For current ProphetX 2.5x users, this is similar to the original charting toolbar that activated when a chart was displayed. Instead of showing on the upper tool bar it now displays at the bottom of each display and is related to that display only.) If you have more than 1 display open in the window this tool bar will have buttons related to each of them and located side by side. 3
Split Views On the Context Tool Bar, click on the Linked Views in Split Pane to link a display on the bottom of the current window. Click on the Create a Linked View button to select the view to display: This quote sheet was linked to news using the buttons on the Context Tool Bar. 4
In a split window view, to delete the bottom view or move it into its own window, right-click in bottom portion of the window and make your selection. Reframe View will create a new window. Note: You can move it back into the original window as a tabbed display (drag and drop in the tabbed area of the original window) but you cannot put it back into the split format unless you recreate the split format as outlined above. Tabbed Displays All displays can be tabbed within one window or as individual displays if preferred. The Create new tabs in same frame toggle button on the main (upper) button bar will determine where to place the module you are selecting. The default was pre-defined in the File Preferences option from the main menu. When the button is indented on the button bar, it s set to place windows in a tabbed format in the same frame. (See example below) 5
If it s not indented, your selection will create a new window for the display. This example shows the button indented new displays will be placed in tabs in the same window. Right click on a tab to change the tab itself (for example, to place the tab in a new frame), or to delete, rename, or change the color of the tab. Detaching Windows (Multi-Monitor Display) Right click on the Title Bar to change the window title or to detach the window and place it outside of ProphetX (to a different monitor, for example) To add a display to a detached window, first open it in ProphetX as a separate display then click and drag it to the detached window. Use the individual formula or User Custom Study if you are only interested in the close and a line chart.
