Your accounts You have two user accounts! One simple rule: The usernames are the same The passwords may be different! Example Username: MSAI135 One account provides access to the domain (ISG Student), and the other to the IT services Computer Centre domain (CC) 3 You initial password on the ISG domain is set to the same as your initial IT services password, after that point there is no password syncronisation

Go to Tickets and click the a new support ticket to create You will receive email updates as your request is handled by our support team You can log onto the Helpdesk to check the status of your ticket, or to communicate with the technician dealing with your request
File storage on ISG domain Storage Quotas All M.Sc. students have a storage quota of 6GB. This is accessible when you log in to the ISG Linux Terminal Server (Saturn) by browsing to your Linux home path (~) You can exceed your quote by 2GB (Up to 8GB Total storage) for up to one week. After this you will no longer be able to write files to your directory 6

File storage on ISG domain (continued) Backups snapshots Snapshots are automatic backups of files and folders in your home directory. On Linux; To restore a deleted file or an existing file to its previous version, within the parent directory, browse to the hidden directory:.ckpt/ Snapshots are automatically taken daily, (12:30 AM) and are stored for one week. You will see a maximum of 14 snapshots. 8
What Lab facilities are available? Central IT Services PC Labs located around Campus Windows 7 Desktop computers with printing/scanning facilities available in most labs Use PC Finder (http://www.rhul.ac.uk/pcfinder) to check availability Departmental PC Lab (reserved for Maths, Computer Science and ISG) in McCrea 103 Thin client access to departmental servers (both Windows and Linux) Printing/scanning facilities McCrea 103 is a 24- hour access lab, and may be accessed out of hours by using your college card 9
Practical Exercise Connecting to Saturn
ISG Terminal Server - Saturn Please sign into the lab computers using your IT services credentials Refer to the Connecting to the ISG Linux Terminal Server guide, and establish connections to Saturn using PuTTY (SSH), NXClient (Remote Desktop) and WinSCP (SCP). IMPORTANT Saturn is located on the ISG Domain, and requires your ISG credentials to access it Those of you IMPORTANT who have not yet had your ISG account activated or are unable to log in: Please see one of the CIM IT support staff who will be able to assist you. Your account will not be activated if you have not returned your AUP / Student form from your induction pack 11
