Its customer base includes organizations from across all business verticals, including government, healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, media and entertainment industries. Challenge Helping customers protect their data Helping customers optimize the integrity, security and availability of their data is an important element of the services provided by Broadcloud., EVP Strategic Services at Broadcloud, Data is the lifeblood of every organization. If systems and data are unavailable it can have a serious business impact for our customers including the loss of revenue and reputation. With the cost of downtime high for Broadcloud s customers, it needs to help them design and implement disaster recovery strategies that minimize risk and cost. We were using up to seven products for recovery management, which was time-consuming. 02
Broadcloud was using a range of tools from a number of suppliers to support its recovery management services. Due to the diversity of the systems being protected and customer preferences, we were using numerous products for recovery management, explains Eubanks. This non-standardized approach, however, was time-consuming and added to our service management burden. To simplify service delivery, Broadcloud needed to find a centralized reliable solution that its customers would trust. We wanted a single integrated solution that could provide various levels of disaster recovery across physical, virtual and cloud environments comments Eubanks. To support our cloud model, the solution also needed to be quick to provision for customers and highly scalable. Solution Multi-tier disaster recovery from a fully integrated platform Broadcloud had been using CA ARCserve solutions as part of its recovery management offering for several years. In 2010, following an in-depth review of solutions on the market, it decided to consolidate its disaster recovery services to the platform. With real-time replication and high availability clusters, we can failover between datacenters in minutes. Using CA ARCserve Backup and CA ARCserve D2D, Broadcloud provides customers with cloud or local backup capabilities with backed up data stored on-premise or on hybrid or public cloud platforms. The CA Technologies solutions enable us to backup and restore data from the cloud very easily, comments Eubanks. The solutions are ideal for those customer systems that need to be recovered within a few hours. To support more demanding customer workloads, such as email, ERP (enterprise resource planning) and CRM (customer relationship management) systems, Broadcloud uses CA ARCserve Replication and CA ARCserve High Availability. As Eubanks explains, With real-time replication and high availability clusters, we can failover between datacenters in minutes to ensure that customer systems suffer negligible downtime in the event of an incident. For customers in highly regulated industries, Broadcloud has designed a process that includes data separation and encryption, which is exclusively founded on a private cloud model. With a triple layer of encryption being imposed before data is migrated to a secondary failover environment, and complete visibility of its location at any time, organizations can prove compliance with HIPAA, PCI, FISMA and other data protection regulations, comments Eubanks. Several petabytes of data is currently protected by the CA ARCserve solutions. We protect a significant amount of data using the CA Technologies solutions, but as files are backed up or replicated incrementally, we can minimize storage requirements for our customers, explains Eubanks.
