SOUND MATTERS How do we create new and smart solutions to our welfare model? Can sound become a driving force for innovation in the municipality? Can you create economic growth in a smaller city by letting city and municipality make out a test-lab for companies and institutions? How do you best reduce noise from traffic, hospital equipment, kids etc.? What should a silent electric car sound like, in order to be safe for pedestrians? How do you design an appropriate sound profile for companies and organizations? How important is your audio experience of a stay in Struer - or a walk by the harbour? 8
The City of Sound. This is not only a question of creating a brand, but to involve the citizens, local enterprises and cultural institutions in living the city of sound. There are plans for infrastructural projects such as parks with audio-walks with integrated sound making elements The museum is planning on establishing a exploratorium on sound and working on defining the sound of Struer by collecting sounds of different parts of Struer. The City of Sound thus incorporates both economic, social and environmental aspects 9
A Local Action Plan for The City of Sound will be made of how to accomplish the ambitious goals. This would be done by involving the different local stakeholders and enterprises like Bang & Olufsen and SMEs in BusinessPark Struer - but also with international input from other cities. 10
