Logo and Print Guidelines INTRODUCTION Your review of the San Diego City College Logo and Print Guidelines is appreciated. These Guidelines have been developed to ensure a professional image and consistent identity for San Diego City College. Your comments and suggestions are welcome! The San Diego City College logo: conveys a unified identity and image reflects the unique character of the College and is easily recognizable provides the framework for a strong visual presence exhibits an image of excellence For any exceptions to these guidelines, permission must be obtained from the Public Information Officer. LOGO OVERVIEW The San Diego City College logo should appear on all publications, signage, advertising, merchandise, marketing and public relations materials, and on any items that the general public may view and identify with City College. DISTRICT LOGOS The District Logo (six identical diamonds enclosed with rings) is to be used on all ads, publications and collateral representing the San Diego Community College District and its colleges. The District logo is available in two color varieties: teal or grayscale (black and white). DISPLAY OF CITY COLLEGE LOGO The City College logo should be displayed in its entirety, never in separate parts or altered. It is not permissible to change the composition of the logo. When used in conjunction with another graphic, the City College logo: should maintain spatial balance between the images other graphics should never replace the City College logo as a sole identifying mark. SIZE The minimum acceptable size of the City College logo is 3/4 tall by 1 wide.the size of the logo can vary, but proportions must be maintained. Do not stretch, distort or manipulate the logo in any way. The City College logo is not to be reproportioned or modified in any way other than as noted in this publication. PLACEMENT/FONT Correctly proportioned City Swash = As a graphic element, the City College logo should be part of the overall design of the page, and recognizable as the College s logo. Preferably the logo should be located at the top of the page of a publication. Smallest Acceptable Size (3/4 tall by 1 wide) The words SAN DIEGO COLLEGE appear below the swash in all upper case Helvetica Neue Bold or Arial Bold typeface in black. COLOR The official color of the City College swash is red: PMS 201 or CMYK 0/100/65/34. The black version of the logo should be used whenever copy is printed in either grayscale or black and white. The logo must stand out against the background. If an all black logo will not show up on a background, using the logo in all red or all white is an option. When used on a black background or other solid color, the logo should be used in its one-color format. Don t screen the logo behind text. Don t vertically or horizontally alter/skew the logo. Don t add words/phrases to the logo. Don t obscure the logo. 6
PUBLICATION REQUIREMENTS For all printed materials, both the City College logo and the San Diego Community College District logo must be incorporated into the design. Flyers and publications in portable document format (.pdf) may be emailed to: hbunkows@sdccd.edu and sgeiling@sdccd.edu. Hard copy proofs should be delivered to the Communications mailbox in A-8. NOTE REGARDING PUBLISHER Microsoft Publisher documents are not accepted for printing at the District Reprographics Office or at most commercial print houses. 7
