Page 1 of 6 Last Updated: Friday, November 16, 2012 Access It! Universal Web Client Integration Overview This document outlines the steps needed to setup the Access It! Universal Web Client. The following steps need to be completed on the intended Web Server. In most scenarios, the Web Server will be the same machine as the Access It! Universal Server (machine with dongle attached). When using a separate Web Server, additional steps are required and are outlined below in the section Configuring Access It! Universal Web Client for a Separate Web Server. Prerequisites Access It! Universal is installed. Both versions of the Access It! Universal software and Web Client must be the same. Internet Information Services (IIS) is required. Microsoft.NET Framework 4 or higher is required. Setup Internet Information Service (IIS) Windows XP 1.) Open Add/Remove Programs (Start Control Panel) 2.) Click Add/Remove Windows Components from the left hand menu 3.) Select Internet Information Services (IIS) and click Details 4.) Check the following items: Common Files Documentation Internet Information Services Snap-In SMTP Service World Wide Web Service 5.) Click OK button 6.) Click Next button A Windows installation disk may be required to install IIS. 7.) Close Add/Remove Programs Windows Server 2003 1.) Open Add/Remove Programs (Start Control Panel) 2.) Click Add/Remove Windows Components from the left hand menu 3.) Select Application Server and click Details 4.) Check the option ASP.NET 5.) Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager 31.) On the left pane, expand the Server name 32.) Select Application Pools 33.) Right Click on DefaultAppPool and select Advanced Properties 34.) Set.Net Framework Version to v4.0 35.) If using a 64bit OS, set Enable 32-Bit Applications to True 36.) Click OK 37.) Close Internet Information Services (IIS) Windows 8 1.) Click Turn Windows features on or off from the left hand menu The Server Manager opens. 3.) Select Roles from the left hand tree 4.) Click the Add Roles link from the right hand pane The Add Roles Wizard opens. 5.) On the Before You Begin page, click the Next button 6.) On the Select Server Roles page, check Web Server (IIS) If prompted to install any required features for IIS click the Add Required Features button. 7.) Click the Next button 8.) On the Web Server (IIS) page, click the Next button 9.) On the Confirm Installation Selections page, click the Install button The Installation Progress page appears and installation begins. 12.) Close Internet Information Services (IIS) Microsoft.NET Framework 4 Setup This option may already be installed with the Operating System. 1.) Extract the contents of Access It! Universal Web Client.zip 2.) Run dotnetfx40_full_x86_x64.exe 3.) After reading the license agreement, select I have read and accept 4.) Click Install button Access It! Universal Web Client Setup 1.) Run Setup.exe 2.) Click Next button 3.) Click I Agree 4.) Leave Site, Virtual Directory, and Application Pool at default settings 5.) Click Next button 6.) Click Next button 7.) Click Close button Configuring Access It! Universal Web Client for a Separate Web Server The following applies only when using a separate web server. 1.) Browse to the Default Web Site file path The default file path is %SystemDrive%\inetpub\wwwroot 2.) Open the AIUniversal folder 3.) Open Web.Config using notepad 4.) Locate the section titled <appsettings> 5.) Locate the setting <add key= DefaultRegionalServer value= /> 6.) Within the quotes of value, enter the name of the Access It! Universal Server (machine with dongle attached) Example <add key= DefaultRegionalServer value= AIUNIVERSALSERVERNAME /> Launching Access It! Universal Web Client 1.) Open Internet Explorer (Start Programs) on any PC that has network access to the Access It! Universal Web Server.
2.) Browse to one of the following addresses: http://servername/aiuniversal http://serveripaddress/aiuniversal When logging into the Web Client, a username without a password is NOT valid. Uninstalling Access It! Universal Web Client 1.) From the Add or Remove Programs Menu, select Access It! Universal Web Client and then click Remove. 2.) Click Yes to the Are you sure you want to remove Access It! Universal Web Client from your computer? message box.
