Horticulture Nursery Manager Associate degree in Horticulture or related degree. Will consider all qualified agriculture degrees. Manages nursery to grow horticultural plants, such as trees, shrubs, flowers, ornamental plants, or vegetables for sale to wholesale or retail customers. Determines types and quantity of horticultural plants to be grown, considering such factors as whether plants will be grown under controlled conditions in hothouse, greenhouse, or under natural weather conditions in field, and market demand conditions, utilizing knowledge of plant germination, growing habits, soil conditioners, plant nutrients, and disease control requirements. Selects and purchases seed, plant nutrients, and disease control chemicals according to type of horticultural plants and conditions under which plants will be grown. Directs workers engaged in planting of seed, raising, feeding, and controlling growth and disease of plants, and in transplanting, potting, or cutting plants for market. Coordinates clerical, record keeping, accounting, and marketing activities.
