Code of Conduct Members of CHA agree to abide by the Code of Conduct. In fact, compliance with CHA s Code of Conduct is both a qualifying requirement for new membership and an ongoing requirement to remain a member in good standing. CHA s Code of Conduct establishes standards for discount healthcare companies to operate with integrity, fairness and accountability. For consumers, our Code of Conduct provides a guide for choosing a reputable discount healthcare program. The key provisions of the Code of Conduct include: Definitions of discount healthcare programs, marketers, members and providers Application of the code to companies that operate in a freestanding capacity, including private label, or through or in connection with a health insurance plan Provider agreements and requirements Disclosure materials that prominently state that a discount program is NOT insurance and that otherwise comply with state law disclosure requirements Appropriate use of marketing materials and practices Mandatory minimum refund policies Operational requirements regarding toll-free numbers, websites and membership cards, among other requirements Complaint resolution and compliance with any and all state or federal regulations With the national growth and consumer interest in discount healthcare programs, CHA s members understand the importance and value of adopting standards that establish appropriate levels of consumer protection and program integrity. Regulatory CHA is the voice of the discount healthcare industry with legislative bodies and administrative agencies at both the state and Federal level.
