PeopleSoft AM Asset Dispositions PeopleSoft Asset Management enables you to retire assets in the past, present, or future. Occasionally, there will exist a need to reverse a retirement transaction. For these occasions, the ability to reinstate a retired asset will be demonstrated. Assets are retired when they are either disposed of or no longer in use. When you retire an asset, PeopleSoft Asset Management creates all the necessary journal entries. For example, when an asset is sold, the system calculates depreciation through the date of the sale, as well as any gain or loss. In addition, journal entries corresponding to each of these events are created. Gains and losses are booked to separate accounts, allowing for flexibility in updating general ledger journals and balances. Retired assets can be reinstated at any time. Once reinstated, depreciation will start again for assets that aren't fully depreciated. PeopleSoft AM Mass Changes Regular business cycles sometimes require you to make the same change to a large group of assets. For many of these instances, PeopleSoft Asset Management provides PeopleSoft Application Engine processes that you request from the process menu within the application. Asset Management>Send/Receive Information>Approve Financial Information>Review The results of the Mass Change appear in the AM INTFC tables. This is your chance to preview the data that the Transaction Loader process uses when populating PeopleSoft Asset Management tables and change anything that isn't correct. The standard daily load process, as was demonstrated during asset additions, will use this mass change information to populate and alter the AM tables.
