Business Management Master s Program Campus Querétaro The Tec de Monterrey is a private university institution, which states that part of their mission is to, widely be recognized as an educational institution in Latin America for the leadership exercised by alumni in the private, public, and social sectors. The Business Management program emerged from the need to prepare professionals who have leadership and managerial skills, a spirit of entrepreneurship, an international outlook, and are technologically literate and ethically responsible, in order to be competitive in a globalized business setting. This masterʼs program is offered as a regular in person class (not web based) for those students that are enrolled full time. The international students will take 8 courses during two trimestral periods in English while enrolled in this program, thus they will only take some courses that make up their masters program. Course Information The following courses are part of the Business Management Program, during the first trimester the planned academic scheme is to have 3 compulsory courses plus one elective (of tour choosing). During the second trimester all 4 courses are compulsory. FZ4003 Financial administrative analysis This basic course in finance provides students with a fundamental knowledge of financial analysis. Prior knowledge is needed of financial information analysis. Learning outcome: the student will make recommendations to efficiently support an organizations decision-making process. Students will be able to prepare, project, and analyze financial statements, as well as analyze and issue recommendations concerning the major investment and financing decisions of organizations. This should be carried out in an economic environment characterized by change, globalization, technological progress, and sustainability within the organizations. EC4006 Managerial Economics The aim of this basic economics course is to provide students, by studying and analyzing macroeconomics, with the tools used in making decisions on company operations. Prerequisite: prior knowledge of economics, statistics and financial information. Learning outcome: the student will be able to solve cases and exercises in which he can analyze the decisions made by consumers and producers that affect the daily life of companies. Students will be able to apply microeconomic tools and the required analytical skills to make strategic decisions related to the operations of a business and its environment. AD4008 Management and strategies of entrepreneurship Course aim: This advanced course seeks to provide the student with the tools and methodologies used for recognizing investment opportunities through innovative strategies that generate sustainable value. Prerequisite: Basic, fundamental knowledge of the functional areas of business. As a result the student is expected to write a report that demonstrates his capacity to identify and assess new business opportunities and to plan the organizations growth efficiently.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to identify and develop business opportunities in viable and sustainable organizations, develop their own analytical approaches, using guidelines and natural entrepreneurial skills, create and earn value for the organization's stakeholders, as well as innovate and generate sustainable concepts and business models. AD5004 Leadership and human capital This advanced course seeks to provide students with a modern vision of leadership in relation to human capital management and to make them clearly aware of the importance of organizational learning and knowledge management. Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of the functional areas of business administration. Learning outcome: Students will complete a capstone project using diverse human capital management tools and that promotes innovation and learning at all three levels: individual, team and organizational. Students will be able to lead and manage human capital, select the appropriate tools to facilitate learning, and tutor both teams and individuals, focusing on knowledge creation and management. They will be able to apply effective communication skills and define strategic models to build organizations that learn. AD5003 Value creation, business and network models This is an advanced business administration course. Course aims: To teach students about the strategy and quantitative tools for creating value in the organizational and global business context. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of business administration, commerce and finance. Learning outcome: Students will be able to solve cases and use simulators to define operational strategies aimed at generating value in the organization. Students will be able to understand the process of value creation and its management, analyze the strategic frameworks of value chains, identify and propose strategies for value creation, and apply optimization decisions to operational management processes. FZ5014 Financial strategies for business development This advanced course in finance provides students with tools and methodologies for appraising new businesses to create sustainable wealth. Prerequisite: Prior, fundamental knowledge of the functional areas of businesses. Learning outcome: Students will complete a project in which they conduct the efficiently analysis and valuation of investments and the process for obtaining financing in new businesses from the perspectives of sustainability and social responsibility. This will take place in an economic setting that is characterized by change, globalization and technological advancements.
Students will be able to evaluate business opportunities and identify the most suitable finance options for the new business. They will be able to make a new venture grow into a sustainable organization and they will create and obtain value for the organizations stakeholders. They will be able to convince partners, investors, creditors, and employees of the sustainability and strength of the business. They will also understand the private equity cycle of the business and how to use basic finance principles and tools to evaluate all the financial transactions and strategies related to the new business. MT4011 Strategies of International Marketing Products and Services This basic marketing course helps the student to understand the global trends in product and service marketing. Knowledge of business administration and marketing is required. Learning outcome: the student will solve cases by constructing and evaluating marketing strategies in a context of competitiveness and globalization. Students will be able to understand the importance of commercial marketing in international commerce and of evaluating the cultural, political, and legal factors of the counties involved in order to select the strategy to follow in global business. AD5017 Innovation, Design and Organization This advanced course exposes the student to the context and tools of innovation so that he can develop his creative thinking and idea generation processes for problem solving and wealth creation. Prerequisite: basic knowledge of organizational theory and creativity in businesses. Learning outcome: the student will solve problems and generate prototypes that promote innovation in processes and new products. Students will be able to create work models that promote creativity and innovation in business. They will be able to identify and apply the working methods that most favor innovation in business processes, and utilize workplace technology and open code to generate new ways of creating value and opportunities in the new economy. AD5006 Integrative Project This is an advanced business administration course. Course aims: to integrate entrepreneurial and leadership concepts and skills, focusing on affective action. Prerequisite: prior knowledge of business administration and entrepreneurship. Learning outcome: the student will create a business plan with market, technical and financial feasibility studies in order to set up his own company and/or develop new business opportunities in the company in which he is currently working. Students will be able to apply strategic thinking skills and a business-oriented vision to identify new business opportunities in todays global economy. They will be able to design a business plan with an emphasis on technology and innovation, while incorporating the dimensions of ethics and social responsibility within the business
processes. AD5005 Service Management This is an advanced course in knowledge area of administration. This course requires previous knowledge of strategy, marketing, economics and finance. As learning outcome the student will be able to solve cases in which he applies a strategic vision and leadership through service, and is aware of the importance of service industry. The student will be able to manage the needs of the business in a dynamic environment in a service economy and society.
