MISSION STATEMENT Security & Parking Services strive to provide our University Community and visitors, with safe and well maintained parking and transit infrastructure. We are dedicated to courteous and helpful customer service through information resources, polite and knowledgeable staff, and convenient parking facilities. We encourage voluntary compliance. We also encourage alternative means of transportation to preserve the environment. We have collaborative initiatives with the office of sustainability, such as go transit, carpool parking, and secure storage and bike locker rentals to meet storage needs for green transit users. Staffing At McMaster Parking operations and administration we believe in supporting the University Community through the hiring of McMaster students. This gives students the opportunity of a convenient workplace that provides a means for students to work around their class schedules and help pay back school loans and save for the future. HEALTH AND SAFETY In Parking, we strongly believe in the highest degree of professionalism and demonstrate this valuable character trait every day on the job Yearly training includes, monthly staff meetings and semi - annual training on Technology upgrades, EOHSS training, Job Hazard Analysis training and AODA training for all full time and part time staff. Health and Safety Training 4 20 Golf Cart Training Job Hazard AODA Parking Statistics McMaster possesses one of the most optimum parking configurations and technologically advanced operations for University campuses. With the parking gate system our department can track logistics with ease While on the job, McMaster Parking Control officers not only maintain order on campus through enforcement, but provide superior customer service. Our Officers maintain automation equipment across campus, servicing a total of 4 gates, and 2 pay stations. They monitor a total of 53 intercoms campus-wide and 53 camera views. The chart below show the number of entries for each of the gated lots and number of manual gate openings which required intervention by parking staff at the intercom system or in the field. Manual gate openings are the result of visitor tickets which are unreadable, transponder mismanagement. This low response rate and the low percentage of manual gate openings signifies the efficiency of the automation system and software, and the effectiveness of parking staff in resolving issues promptly.
