ISA in Nepal British Council Nepal piloted the International School award in 2012 with only nine schools participating in the process. A MoU was signed between Department of Education and British Council in June 2012 for the joint implementation of the International School Award in Nepal to recognize schools for their project activities and international work. In the next 2 years 45 schools have participated in ISA out of which 27 schools have received the full award and rest have received a foundation certificate for introducing internationalism in their school curriculum In total there have been 16 government and 38 institutional schools who have participated from 12 districts spread across the country

ISA in Nepal contd.. Feed back during recent evaluation conducted for the participating schools in ISA has proved extremely beneficial which they believe has multiplier effects, with potential in making significant contribution to the prospects of students, as follows: Increased motivation for the teachers and students for mutual learning Increased awareness among children about global citizenship Increased domestic recognition and international relation Enhanced ICT knowledge Changed teaching learning methodology Increasing interest and involvement of partners, students and teachers Increased recognition through media coverage Increased access to the global system to learning Increased opportunity to share the ideas between the schools around the world and community Increased knowledge of global citizenship themes, skills and outlooks among all the teachers and students Enhanced professionalism of teachers
