Best Practices for Application Best Practices for applying Fondant DecoShapes to cakes DecoShapes products perform best on Buttercream (oil-based) Icing If using Whipped (water-based) Icing, DecoShapes products can only be applied the day of the cake order. Bleeding of color or change in the texture will occur within 2 days of placing the items on the icing. Products sustain the elements the best when decorated and finished cakes are either boxed for customer pick up or placed in the cake case. To avoid the Fondant DecoShapes products from drying out, always store the products in an airtight container when not in use. Recommend using #6217 Storage Container. Applying Fondant DecoShapes products that have become dry to icing will increase the moisture and make the product pliable. Airbrushing Fondant DecoShapes Allow airbrush color to dry completely before applying product to cake. Shelf life of cakes decorated with DecoShapes Buttercream Icing (oil-based) Whipped Icing (water-based) Best Practices for applying Gum Paste cake decorations to cakes Gum Paste products SHOULD NOT be placed on cakes and frozen. Bleeding of color or change in the texture will occur. Gum Paste products can be placed on cakes immediately after they are iced or after frozen base-iced cakes have been allowed to thaw, 4-6 hours Products sustain the elements the best when decorated and finished cakes are either boxed for customer pick up or placed in the cake case.
