Choosing your doctor Start a relationship with a doctor as soon as you learn you are pregnant. You may see your primary care provider (PCP) or an obstetrician (OB a doctor who specializes in pregnancy care) for your pre-natal care. It is important that during your pregnancy you ask your provider if they will also be caring for your baby after you give birth. Please contact the doctor(s) you select as soon as you learn you are pregnant to begin your prenatal care. Pick your doctor early in your pregnancy, so that your doctor is familiar with you and ready to care for you during your whole pregnancy and at your delivery. It is important to notify your case worker when your baby is born so that your newborn can be enrolled on the Oregon Health Plan.
