Planning and Statistics Portal Overview Introduction The Planning and Statistics Portal (PSP) is a tool designed to provide easy access to university data. The information provided can assist you in making evidence-based decisions. The PSP will assist you to track and monitor information as it changes. Anyone with a Griffith University staff login is able to access the PSP. If you have any questions regarding the PSP and/or the available data, please contact the Business Intelligence support team via email bi-info@griffith.edu.au or the BI Discussion Board. The following document contains information about the general use for the PSP. For more information please use the tutorials provided on the training page. The Planning and Statistic Portal link can be found in the General Resources section of the Staff Services and Resources page on the Griffith University public website or alternatively in the list of Applications on the Griffith Portal. Internet Explorer is the recommended browser when using the PSP. Page 1

Quick Start Guide - Planning and Statistics Portal (PSP) Note: For best results when working with the Planning and Statistics Portal, please use either Internet Explorer or Safari. Chrome and Firefox may give different results. 1 Browse to the Business Intelligence (http://www.griffith.edu.au/planningsupport/business-intelligence/planning-and-statistics-portal) web page. 2 Click either the + and - buttons or the reporting suite names to open or close the detail and report links for that suite. Click on Student Applications and Offers to open suite of reports Page 2

Open Reports from PSP (Domestic Applications) 3 Click on Domestic Applicant Dashboard to open the dashboard report. Page 3

Report viewer 4 Simply click on the tabs along the top to switch to view the different reports included in the Dashboard. 5 Clicking on the link at the bottom of the reports will open a new browser tab with a selection of detail reports to choose from. Make a selection and the report will open. 6 Click on the folders within the navigation box to access detail reports directly Page 4

Return to Prompt Page to rerun reports 1 To rerun the report with different prompt selections, you will need to click the Run button. This will then return you to the prompt page. Viewing reports in different formats 1 Once the report is open the output format can be changed. Click the small arrow next to View in HTML format and select your output format. HTML, PDF and XML formats will open within the browser window. 2 When selecting Excel formats you will be asked to save or open the file on your local computer. Note HTML, PDF and Excel 2007 are the recommended report formats. Page 5

Printing Reports Note: For the best way to print a report is to change the format from HTML to PDF 1 Click the small arrow next to View in HTML format and select View in PDF Format 2 Once the report is in PDF format then hover your mouse at the bottom of the screen and the following options will appear. 3 Click print and the print options window will appear. Saving Reports to My Folders in the Portal 1 OR Click and select to save reports to your My Folders (within the PSP) Click and select to bookmarks (within Internet Explorer) Note: Add to My Bookmarks is only available in Internet Explorer, all other browsers will only allow reports to be added to My Folders. Email report Save Report Save report as Report View Save Print Add this Report Add to My folders Add to My Bookmarks Opens the report up in a new email message. Saves a version of the report retaining the data at the date and time the report was run. Only available for reports run from My Folders. Saves the report as a version of the report retaining the data at the time and date it was run. It is best to save the report in My Folders for you to access at a future date. Click to save this PDF file to a location within your computer or network Click to print this PDF file or pages from it Provides options to add the report to various locations. Creates a shortcut to the report in My Folders Adds a bookmark in your Internet Explorer to run the report. Page 7
