Senior Counsellors Youth Expeditions Senior Counsellors must be energetic and enjoy working with children (ages 6 12 years) or youth (ages 12 14 years) in a supervisory role. Duties include: program planning and implementation, completing daily/weekly statistics and reports, requesting supplies, supervising and evaluating program staff, monitoring program content and schedules, ensuring the safety of participants and staff. Senior Counsellors must possess strong leadership skills and effective communication and customer service skills. Recreation Assistant Youth Programs The Recreation Assistant for Youth Programs are responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating a variety of fun and challenging programs and activities for youth aged 12 18 years. Duties include: developing program content and schedules for various youth initiatives; booking speakers and facilities; overseeing and evaluating program delivery; providing direct program leadership; directly supervising and ensuring the safety of participants; conducting program and participant evaluations; and completing other required reports. Valid Class 5 Driver s License with access to a vehicle (business insurance will be required). A minimum of one (1) year post-secondary education in a field related to children or youth (i.e. Recreation, Physical Education, Education, Social Sciences, or Nursing). Lifeguard/Recreation Counsellor To ensure the safety of all patrons using Department of Community Services Swimming Pools, or program participants in Child or Youth Camp programs swimming at Rotary Sunshine Park or other waterfront areas. Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Pool Option. Current Lifesaving Society NLS Waterfront Option or Canadian Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard would be an asset for Camp positions. Current Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate (required for swimming lesson instructing positions ONLY). Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer, and/or Lifesaving Instructor, NLS Instructor, or other Aquatic Leadership Certifications would be an asset. Experience in supervision of aquatic programs, and activities would be an asset. Excellent communication leadership/instructional skills.
