1 Introduction This document provides release notes for: The PC Client and Mac (OS X) Client v1.6 (build 1.6.29) RC1 Note: Some builds were not published. The document is divided into sections: this general introduction and then one section per client. 1.1 Changes to the User Interface in Client v1.6 Client v1.6 delivers an improved User Interface. This RC1 release is for the PC and Mac Clients only. The key changes to the User Interface include: Updated visual design to reduce clutter and simplify appearance of client UI Simplified how to invite people to a cospace call Improved user experience when creating new calls Introduced the View screen share mode for viewing screen share on a private device in video conference rooms Simplified setting up your WorkSpace client Simplified how you connect calls to video conferencing systems or conference phones User selectable localized user interface Note: The WorkSpace Sign In box has a Back button at the bottom of the box. The purpose of this Back button is to provide help to guests who have arrived at the Sign In box after installing the web client. Selecting Back and then Join call, will take the guest to a message telling them to click on the invitation link again to join the call. Note: If you are using v1.6 clients then ensure that the XMPP certificate, supplied by the VG Connect WorkSpace server, contains the domain name as a Subject Alternative Name (SAN) within the certificate, in addition to the Common Name in the certificate being the same as the FQDN. Otherwise, PC and Mac Clients will display a warning message, before allowing the user to continue. 1.1.1 The new visual design The User Interface has been simplified, and little used features removed. Refer to the document What s new in the 1.6 clients for an overview of the main changes in version 1.6. VG Connect Solution: WorkSpace Clients V1.6 Release Notes Page 3

1.1.2 Inviting people to a cospace call Inviting people to a cospace call has been simplified. Clicking on the Invite button, gives you 3 options to invite people to a call: Email Clicking on this option puts a copy of the joining instructions into an email (if set up by your system administrator). Copy Invitation Clicking on this option puts a copy of the joining instructions on your clipboard. Send this information to your guests, for instance via an instant messaging tool. Copy weblink Clicking on this option puts a copy of the web link on your clipboard. Send this information to your guests, for instance via an instant messaging tool. 1.1.3 Creating new calls Clicking on the New call button takes you to the Start or join a call page, enter the video address, contact name or phone number to call. Help has been added to this page. Select the device that you wish to use for the call, using the down arrow beside the Join call button. 1.1.4 Using View screen share mode Previously, if you viewed or shared a presentation on your own device while you were in a meeting room with other devices which were also connected to the cospace, you needed to remember to mute your microphone and disable the speakers to avoid feedback. Now you can use the View screen share option from the Audio and video options button when you join or participate in calls. Select View screen share as a guest or as a signed in user. It will turn off all media on your device except for screen share. It is useful for a "bring your own device" scenario in a meeting room where the room system is in a cospace, and you want to see the presentation close up, or share your presentation into the call, without causing audio feedback 1.1.5 Setting up your WorkSpace client The Settings and info button has replaced the User status button on the red bar at the top of the screen. It now only takes a single click to reach the setup options for the client. 1.1.6 Connecting video conferencing systems or conference phones Use the beside the Join call button to select a video conference system or a conference phone to join a cospace or call. Enter the video address or phone number of the device, and click on Connect. If you are in a cospace meeting or call, and wish to move it to a video conferencing system or conference phone, select the button in the task bar. Enter the video address or phone number of the device, and click on Connect. The video address or phone number will be remembered for future use. 1.1.7 Selecting the language for the User Interface Select the Settings and info button followed by the More settings button. On the Preferences tab, the pull down Language list allows the user to select the language for the User Interface, see table below. Option from pull down list zh_cn zh_tw en_us it_it ja_jp ko_kr nb_no es_es sv_se Language selected Simplified Chinese Traditional Chinese English Italian Japanese Korean Norwegian Spanish Swedish Note: after selecting a different language, you need to logout and restart the client, before the user interface will display the selected language. 1.2 Feedback We would like feedback on this release. Please ensure that one person at your test site collates issues and acts as the single point of contact for Video Guidance support. When providing feedback there are two types of logs that are useful: If you experience a crash, you should get a popup window with crash debug information. Copy and paste that to an email in the support case. If you have other issues such as poor quality audio and you re using one of the clients that have a debug facility, press the Debug button whilst the issue is happening, save the file and email it to the support case. If you encounter any issues, contact techsupport@videoguidance.com. VG Connect Solution: WorkSpace Clients V1.6 Release Notes Page 5

2 Mac Client v1.6 This section of the release note describes the v1.6 (build v1.6.29) release for the WorkSpace solution Mac Client. 2.1 Installation instructions 1. If you already have an older version of the WorkSpace Mac Client installed in the Applications folder, a prompt asks whether you want to replace it with the new one that you are moving. Select Replace. This will overwrite the previous version and if, for example, you have a shortcut in the dock this will now automatically launch the new version. Note: If you first remove an older Mac Client from the Applications folder and then copy the new one into it, clicking on the dock shortcut no longer works and the icon becomes a question mark because the icon still searches for the previous application version. Launching the new version from the Applications folder will result in a separate dock shortcut being created. Follow the instructions above to avoid this. 2.2 Known limitations with Mac Clients Known issues with Mac Clients are listed below. Please quote the reference number when discussing the issue with Support. In addition, there are some instability issues that we are aware of, and are working on. Reference Issue Summary 3487 Grey image after saving diagnostics in full screen mode 4173 Slideshow mode in PowerPoint doesn't work 4240 Minimized applications should appear in share screen menu After saving a diagnostic log (in full screen mode only), you are presented with a grey desktop. Exit full screen mode (from the OS X menu bar) and click back onto the client. Previously, slideshow mode in PowerPoint didn't work because PowerPoint opened a new window for the slideshow. The client is now able to share individual applications, but sharing a full screen presentation in PowerPoint/Keynote is not currently supported. This will be fixed in a future release. Currently, minimized applications do not appear in the share screen menu. An application that you wish to share needs to be maximized, and then the WorkSpace client should be tabbed in front of this. 5503 Self-view is quite slow to load You may see 1 to 2 seconds of black screen before the webcam image appears. This happens both when opening the user menu to show self-view and when joining an empty cospace. 7273 Wrong link for guest login and empty dial URI 7461 Text highlighting seems to disappear after right clicking In localized user interface an incorrect link and an empty URI were provided in the invitation for guest login. If you right click after highlighting text in a cospace message, it may appear that the highlighting has disappeared. In fact it has turned a light shade of grey, similar to the cospace message background. VG Connect Solution: WorkSpace Clients V1.6 Release Notes Page 9
