About the Society for Promotion of Libraries (SPL) Society for Promotion of Libraries (SPL), Uttar Pradesh is one of the Primer Library Association in the Uttar Pradesh. SPL is a registered society under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The main objective of SPL is to create awareness and to achieve high standard in Librarianship and Information Services. The society is also committed for the overall development and promotion of Libraries and creates a strong network relationship among all Library science professionals as well as academic institutions. However society is constantly providing the service for automation and digitization of libraries and information centers on consultancy basis. The ultimate aim of the society is to build a single platform for all LIS professionals where they can share their views and experiences with each others in the new digital era. About Department of Library and Information Science Department of Library and Information Science was established on July 1, 2002 in the main residential campus of C.S.J.M. University, Kanpur to impart and promote the multi and interdisciplinary higher education in Library Sciences by utilizing the modern concepts of teaching and research at master and doctorate level. The Institute was established with a view to impart higher education in the field of Library Sciences. Since its inception, the Institute has been actively involved in imparting education at higher level and has produced a number of good and successful students. The institute of Library Sciences is situated in an impressive building in the University Campus. The Institute offers courses B.Lib. & Info.Sc. and M.Lib. & Info.Sc. This programme comprises theoretical courses including specialized courses in some subjects including field work. In addition, research work in the form of a dissertation is an essential part of the programme. About C.S.J.M. University, Kanpur Campus is located in one of the biggest industrial metropolis of State of Uttar Pradesh Kanpur. Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University stands as a hallmark of higher education. It is an educational community where students of various religions and cultural backgrounds study and work together in a congenial atmosphere. The university is geared to provide maximum scholastic benefit to each individual student. The Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University Kanpur has been on the map of higher education for more than three decades. Established in 1966, it has not looked back. The university is booming with academic activities. While the undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in all disciplines of Art, Science, Commerce, Law, Engineering and Medicine are offered in affiliated colleges and institutions, the residential wing of the campus includes faculties of Life Sciences, Business Management, Education and English. It also has a computer centre, a department of Adult and Continuing Education, Communication and a College Development Council.. For catering to the needs of young engineering aspirants, the university has recently started an Institute of Engineering and Technology in the campus offering courses in four branches of engineering viz. Chemical, Computer Science and Information, Mechanical Engineering in the first instance. The university seeks to contribute to student an education through curriculum design, the development of new courses and the application of a forward looking and innovative teaching methodology. Kanpur, the industrial capital of U.P. and commonly known as the Manchester of Northern India has had a very eventful history.

About the Society for Library Professionals (SLP) The Society for Library Professionals (SLP) was established on 3 January 2008 under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The role of this Society is to achieve a high standard of Librarianship in India. This will be achieved by the development of strong linkages among libraries and information centers across the globe; promotion of the library and information science professions in India by fostering collaboration with national and international agencies; and for intellectual development and education exchange of its members. A review panel will review the papers based on originality of the work, quality and relevance to the main topic of the conference. The papers should be organized so as to accommodate abstract, introduction, objective, methodology, results obtained and references. Peer reviewed and accepted papers will be published in the Conference proceedings. All the participants are requested to send the Registration form duly filled along with the requisite fee applicable latest by 12 th April, 2014.

Invited speakers Eminent experts in the field will be invited to deliver the keynote address and plenary sessions. Details of the sessions will be announced later on. Paper Submission Guidelines for Authors The paper will be accepted in both medium (English or Hindi) Name of author s, their address, e-mail, and phone numbers should clearly be mentioned on the paper Paper should be typed in English/Hindi on A-4 size paper using single space with one inch margin on each side The text should be typed in 12pt size using Times New Roman Font Text should be justified on both ends and start with a title followed by Author s, Abstract, Keywords, main text, Reference and appendices Title should be descriptive, concise and should not exceed 50 characters. Abstract should not exceed 200 characters Main text (without the author details) should be concise and total number of pages not exceeding eight including references, appendix, table and figures References should be cited in the text and should be listed in alphabetical order of the first author s surname At least one of the authors must pre-register for Conference Note: All paper submission should be forwarded electronically to the seminar Organizing Secretary as MS Word File with copies to: conf.splup@gmail.com. The papers should strictly follow the submission guidelines.
