Comprehend database performance impact With the HP OpenView Performance Insight Report Pack for Databases, you can view database metrics on availability, transaction, size, commits, logins, table space size and segment size. With the information from these reports, you are able to understand the overall availability, troubleshoot issues on particular instances, know when to upgrade system capacity or when to extend table spaces and/or segments to reduce the risk of performance degradation and do capacity planning, and understand overall usage trends in user activity. This information can be shared with internal or external customers. Key functionality HP OpenView Performance Insight Report Pack for Databases provides in-depth reports that: Use data collected by HP OpenView Smart Plug-In (SPI) for Oracle. Generate traps based on service level thresholds. Drill down to a QuickView report in the HP OpenView Performance Insight Report Pack for System Resources to determine if system issues are the root cause of a performance problem. Integrate with other HP OpenView products, such as HP OpenView Network Node Manager and HP OpenView Operations. Can be customized (look and feel as well as the type of data that is shown). Have customer orientation, meaning that customers are able to log in and see only their information displayed. Total database performance reports Generic database reports Instance Availability Near Real Time: shows uptime in minutes for each instance for the last 6 hours as well as hourly. Daily and monthly uptime is given as a percentage. Instance Transactions Near Real Time: displays the total, average, maximum and minimum commits happening in any instance in the last 6 hours including the commit trends. Instance Size Details Top 20: provides the instance size allocated, free and used the previous day and corresponding trends for a week. Instance Size History: shows the top 20 instances which had the most dynamic space usage over the previous week. Historical space usage trends are detailed daily and monthly. Instance Quickview: by selecting a particular instance, provides a quick summary of the status of an instance with respect to availability, size usage, logons and commits. Instance Logons Near Real Time: details the number of user logons per instance over a period of the last 6 hours. 2
Ad Hoc Instance Selector: by selecting a system, instance, customer, location and vendor, shows all instances that meet that criteria detailing average instance uptime, logons, transactions and percentage size used. Customer Summary: displays all aggregated customer usage information from the last two hours, last day and last month detailing average and total instance uptime, average and total instance down time, average instance size free, average instance logons and average percentage instance size used. Uptime for the customer is also given for hourly, daily and monthly time periods. Location Summary: displays all aggregated location usage information from the last two hours, last day, and last month detailing average and total instance uptime, average and total instance down time, average instance size free, average instance logons and average percentage instance size used. Uptime for the location is also given for hourly, daily and monthly time periods. Oracle specific reports Table Space Size Percentage Used Top 20: lists all the table spaces across all instances sorted based on their percentage used including the weekly table space usage trend for the selected instance. Table Space Size Used Top 20: displays the top 20 table spaces across all instances with the most megabytes used detailing the daily trend. Table Space Size Allocated Top 20: displays the top 20 table spaces across all instances with the most megabytes allocated detailing the daily trend. Table Space Physical IO Top 20: shows the top 20 table spaces across all instances with the most physical I/Os (both reads and writes) for the previous week detailing the daily and monthly trends. Table Space Size History: shows the top 20 table spaces which had the most dynamic space usage detailing daily and monthly usage trends for the segment. Segment Size Details: shows the top 20 segments sorted by megabytes allocated detailing daily and monthly usage trends for the segment. Segment Size History: displays the top 20 segments that had the most dynamic space allocation over the reporting interval detailing historical trends for the size allocated on a daily and monthly basis. The top segments are selected using the standard deviation of the amount of space allocated. 3
