EUROPEAN SECTORAL ASSOCIATIONS FOR SMES THEIR VOICE IN EUROPE ASSOCIATIONS EUROPÉENNES SECTORIELLES DES PME LEUR VOIX EN EUROPE EUROPÄISCHE MITTELSTÄNDISCHE FACHVERBÄNDE EINE STIMME FÜR EUROPA INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION EINFÜHRUNG, which is the horizontal, Craft, trades and SME employers federation, at European level, also represents a growing number of European SME-focused sectoral associations. With their sector-specific knowledge, they are able to offer valuable advice to s work. Some of these sectoral associations are permanently represented in Brussels. Others have their head office in one of s neighbouring countries. Through their national members, they cover, in many cases, all EU Members States and beyond, thus, representing many thousands of small and medium-sized companies across Europe. They possess substantial experience in such fields as the sectoral social dialogue, training and qualification, standardisation as well as all practical matters related to their trade or profession., connue principalement comme la fédération horizontale européenne des PME, représente aussi un nombre considérable d associations sectorielles européennes de PME. 2

Although many of them are already actively involved in consultative bodies, European working groups and standardisation committees, the political Brussels is not always aware of their existence. On the other hand, with political and economic integration moving forward, European institutions have to deal with ever more specific questions. The information requirements are tremendous! This brochure aims to introduce European sectoral associations for SMEs to all those who are involved in the European integration process. It is an invitation to take advantage of the associations specific experience which they are prepared to put at your disposal. Please, do not hesitate to contact them!
