The Client QBE Insurance Group is one of the world s leading international insurers and reinsurers, headquartered in Sydney, Australia. QBE operates out of 52 countries across the globe, with a presence in all key insurance markets, and is a lead underwriter within its chosen markets, setting rates and conditions. For the year ended 31 December 2011, the company underwrote gross written premium totaling 11,400 million and held shareholders funds of 6,685 million. Business challenge QBE implemented a rationalization program to support the decommissioning of six legacy policy administration systems over 18 months. The six systems between them contained 5 million policies, 3.5 million claims and a total Gross Written Premiums (GWP) value of $36 billion. The migration solution combines the Accenture Archive and the Accenture Reactivation s for policy and claim archive which include an innovative, on-demand policy reactivation solution, enabling post-migration policy administration and claims handling. Three data migrations were completed during the first half of 2011. They were: 4 million policies, with a combined GWP of $20 billion; 3 million claims, with settlements to date of $15 billion and outstanding reserves of $1 billion at migration. The three remaining migrations have been completed in the final quarter of the following calendar year. How Accenture helped The approach enables QBE s legacy policy administration systems to be fully decommissioned as all business data is retained in Accenture s Archive and Reactivation s, satisfying compliance and retention requirements. Accenture s also includes an enterprise-wide web portal and search capability. The enterprise search allows sub-second search of over more than 14 million policy, claim, quote and document records, substantially improving user efficiency in locating business information. Generali chose Accenture to work on the post-merger integration to achieve high quality results with a minimal impact on the smooth-running of its daily operations. How Accenture helped Accenture used the Accenture Insurance Data Factory (IDMF) to: Merge the property and casualty systems of Zurich and Continent Systems into the Generali systems. 1.900.00 policies were migrated from the two separate source systems in less than a year and a half from the commencement of the project to the full decommissioning of the existing systems; Rationalize Generali s healthcare systems, which involved eight migrations of more than 100,000 individual and group policies and linked payments both customized and standard, from two existing systems to three target systems in an 18-month program; Rationalize Generali s life insurance systems, which involved more than 12 distinct portfolios with nearly 400,000 individual and group policies being migrated to six target systems, including a Business Process Outsourcing solution for the management of more 100,000 closed books. The four-year program included 11 separate migrations. What s more, Generali was not required to divert resources and energy from new product development to oversee the integration project, since the Accenture Insurance Data Factory converted all the records, rapidly and accurately.
