PREREQUISITE CHECKLIST REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTALLING ARGUS: SITE-SPECIFIC INFORMATION: During the installation of Argus there is a set of information you will need to complete the installation and configuration successfully. When gathering this information, ensure that all names and details are correct as to ensure the installation goes as smoothly as possible. The following is a list of required information for your installation; it is recommended that you print this list to ensure all items are ticked off accordingly for your site configuration. Some of the options listed below are optional, but it s recommended you gather all information below. REQUIRED DETAIL: SITE DETAIL/INFORMATION: TICK: Clinic/Site Name Site sending, receiving, or both? Computer name that Argus will be installed on How many sending PCs? The error notification email address should already be entered for you, click Next. 4. Click on the... box to browse to C:\Program Files\Argus\Incoming, keeping in mind that you will need to create the directory. 5. Then click Next and Finish. **DO NOT FINISH STEP 7 AUTORUN ** AT THIS STAGE, CLICK CLOSE. It s important that you specify a folder on the local PC; you should NOT specify a mapped network drive. You have successfully configured Argus for Best Practice, however the services for automating Argus to run in the background have deliberately not been configured. The next step from here is to test the configuration within ArgusMessenger above to ensure no errors would occur from the automated services. You are now up to Testing ArgusMessenger Configuration.

TESTING ARGUSMESSENGER CONFIGURATION MAKING SURE IT WORKS: It s important to confirm that your Argus configuration is correct before setting up services to do it for you automatically, if there s an error and the services run every 20 minutes in the background, your error-notification email address can be inundated quite quickly. To test your Argus configuration, with ArgusMessenger open click on Action in the menu up the top, and click on Send/Receive Mail. Naturally, the results you ll get in this progress box will vary. What you re looking for is one that looks like this: The amount of Sent an... items will vary, depending on how many times you have modified the configuration of your ArgusMessenger installation. If you are seeing anything other than the detail in the box above, please don t hesitate to contact our Argus support desk on the details listed on the first page of this document. SOME OF THE REASONS IT FAILS: Out-bound firewalls are one of the biggest contributing factors that will stop ArgusMessenger connecting with the internet. If you are running a software firewall, try disabling it temporarily to see if it solves the issue. Wrong email details are the second biggest contributing factor to a failed ArgusMessenger configuration. Can you test the POP3 details using webmail? Are you sending out via the ISP? Does it require authentication? Are you currently logged in as an administrator? There can often be authentication issues for where the rules export to. Trouble-shooting Checklist: I am currently connected to the internet: I have tried it with the software firewall disabled: I have logged in with webmail to prove the username and password are right for email: I have looked in Logs to check what the issue is: I am currently logged in as an administrator: I have tried it with the antispam software disabled: I will now call Argus Support on (03) 5335 2221:

CONFIGURING ARGUSMESSENGER TO RUN AUTOMATICALLY AUTOMATED SERVICES: ArgusMessenger is now set up correctly for you; it s time to configure a few services that will run in the background for you so that you don t have to click on Send/Receive mail manually every so often. ARGUSMESSENGER AUTORUN: ArgusMessenger Autorun will require you to be logged in as a computer administrator to configure the service to run automatically for you. If you are not confident that this is the able to be done, please contact the Argus Support desk on the details listed on the first page of this documentation. 1. With ArgusMessenger open, click on Configure up the top in the menu, and click on Settings Controller. 2. Click Step 7 Autorun and click OK on the dialog box. 3. Click Start Wizard then Next (optional reading). 4. Select Yes and click Next. 5. Usually, leave the computer login name and password blank as you are logged in as an administrator. 6. Click Next and enter your ArgusMessenger password. 7. Click Verify Password and leave the default of 20 minutes unless there is reason to set otherwise. 8. Click Next, select Yes and click Next. 9. Browse to and select your directory to archive your Argus emails to, click Next and Finish. 10. Close the Argus Settings Controller. Your ArgusMessenger is now a service that will periodically run at the time you have specified. ADDRESS BOOK UPDATE AUTORUN: ArgusMessenger will compare itself against the Argus Users Directory on a specified interval to ensure you have the latest contact details for anyone you wish to send to. 1. With ArgusMessenger open, click on Update (the very right picture icon), and click on the Auto Address Book Update tab. 2. Select Yes and click Confirm, tick Argus Users Directory and click on Start Wizard. 3. Click Next, select Yes and click Next.

ADDRESS BOOK UPDATE AUTORUN (CONTINUED): 4. Leave the login name and password blank, click Next. 5. Enter your ArgusMessenger password and click Verify, the default value of 1 day is standard. 6. Click Next and click Finish. The automated address book update is now completed. You have configured all the required automated services for ArgusMessenger. ADDING THE SITE TO THE ARGUS USERS DIRECTORY In order for other sites to be able to look up your current site, they need to be in the Argus Users Directory. At this stage of the installation, you will need contact Argus Support with the following information: Argus User Directory Checklist: A list of practitioners (with provider numbers) for the site: I have made it clear which site I have just configured and have details including the best contact person and number for the site: I have specified if the clinic has multiple locations and specified which doctors belong to which address: I will now contact Argus Support with the list of practitioners: (03) 5335 2221 or support@argusconnect.com.au: You have now successfully completed the receiving side of the Argus configuration! (You can stop here if the site is not sending using Argus also.)

CONFIGURING BEST PRACTICE TO SEND VIA ARGUS CONFIGURE ARGUSAGENT FOR SENDING VIA ARGUS: Best Practice s method of sending out documents via Argus is via a file drop. Best Practice will place a REF file into a specific directory within a specified directory, we then configure ArgusAgent to collect this REF file and give it to ArgusMessenger to email to our recipient. This section is the most technical, we ve spaced it out to make it easier to follow. 1. Open ArgusAgent by using the Start Menu, All Programs, Argus and Argus Agent. 2. Type in your ArgusMessenger password, by default this is masterkey. Once logged in, click on File in the menu across the top, then click Add Event. 3. Click Next and in the Name of event box, we recommend naming the event Best Practice Pickup REF. Change the Event interval to 10 seconds. The selected Action to be taken should be set to Pickup HL7 File(s). Click Next. 4. In the Choose directory to poll we need to navigate to your local Argus directory (this is typically set to C:\Program Files\Argus) from there create a new directory called Outgoing (Hint: You can use the Create New Folder icon within the folder navigation window). By default, the directory to poll is; C:\Program Files\Argus\Outgoing. 5. In Choose file selection criteria select Extension and type in REF (as noted, do not include the dot). In the bottom section select Move To: and click on the on the very right. Inside our C:\Program Files\Argus\Outgoing directory we need to create a subdirectory called Sent. By default, the directory to move to is; C:\Program Files\Argus\Outgoing\Sent. Click Next. 6. Drop down the sender for the email box and select the appropriate email account. We recommend leaving the Subject and Body blank. Click Next.

MUST BE ALL UPPERCASE 7. Set the Resend Every to every 1 days, and the Resends to 3. Click Next. 8. Change the search for to Look for Email Address and in the location of the email address, please type in: SELECT MSH.6.1.1.1 FROM MSH.6.1.1.1 The error notification email address should already be set; it s optional if you wish to change the email address. Click Next. Click Finish. 9. Highlight the new event we ve just created by clicking on it once, click on File up the top and click on Start Event. CONFIGURE ARGUSAGENT FOR SENDING AUTOMATICALLY: At this stage, ArgusAgent will only run when you have ArgusAgent open and the timer is counting down. ArgusAgent needs to be configured to run as a service to automatically collect files from Best Practice. Follow the steps below to configure ArgusAgent to as a service in the background. ArgusAgent Autorun will require you to be logged in as a computer administrator to configure the service to run automatically for you. If you are not confident that this is the able to be done, please contact the Argus Support desk on the details listed on the first page of this documentation. 1. With ArgusAgent open, click on File up the top, and click on Configure Autorun. 2. Click Next to start the wizard, select Yes, set up Argus as a service and click Next. 3. Leave the Computer Login Name and Computer Login Password blank, you only need to specify these in particular situations. If you are unsure, contact Argus Support. Click Next. 4. Enter masterkey as your SYSDBA password, click Verify Password, leave the activation interval as 20 minutes, then click on Next. Click Finish. If you get any errors at this stage please contact Argus Support on the details listed on the first page of this documentation.

CONFIGURE BEST PRACTICE FOR SENDING VIA ARGUS: Now with all of the Argus software configured and ready; there are a few changes we need to make within Best Practice itself. First, we need to share the Incoming Argus results directory, so that all Best Practice instances at the site can collect the results. Second, we configure one of the Best Practice computers to pick up from that shared location, the settings will replicate to all of the other computers if there are multiple. 1. Double click on your My Computer icon. (It may be on your desktop or in your Start menu) 2. Double click on the C drive (often Local Disk (C) ) 3. Double click on Program Files (you may need to show files ) 4. Double click on Argus and create a folder called Incoming and a folder called Outgoing. Right click on Incoming folder and click on Sharing and Security... 5. Click on Share this folder and change the name to ArgusIncoming. Click on Permissions. 6. Tick the Allow Full Control box, click OK. 7. Click on the Security tab across the top, click Add. 8. In the box, type everyone, and click OK. 9. Click on Everyone once, and tick the Allow Full Control box. Click Okay. Can t see Sharing and Security...? Click Tools, Folder Options, View, at the very bottom and un-tick Use simple file sharing.... Repeat the process again, right click on Outgoing and share that folder also with the same steps, calling it ArgusOutgoing this time. CONFIGURING BEST PRACTICE: 1. With Best Practice open, click on Settings up the top, and click on Configuration. 2. On the first page, ensure that the Default HL7 export format is set to REF and tick Use Argus format. 3. Click on Results import on the left, and then click on Add. 4. We need to configure a UNC Path here. This is done so that all PCs can access the results; expand My Network Places then expand Microsoft Windows Network. - AT THIS POINT, YOUR CONFIGURATION MAY VARY - You need to find your computer, within your workgroup or domain. This is completely dependant on your network configuration and may not be accessible. Please contact Argus Support if you get stuck with these steps (03) 5335 2221.

In this instance, we will assume that the computer name is Doctor-01 and the workgroup/domain name is SmithMedical. 5. If you do not know what your workgroup/domain and computer name is, please right click on My Computer and go to Properties, click on the Computer Name tab across the top. You should see the following: Navigate to your workgroup/domain, and navigate to your computer name. Select the ArgusIncoming share from your computer. Click OK. 6. On the left, we now need to select Messaging (you will need to scroll down the list). Click Add. 7. Within Provider Name type in Argus. 8. Within Path for incoming messages: type in: \\<YOUR-COMPUTER-NAME>\ArgusIncoming\ (substitute <YOUR-COMPUTER-NAME> with your computer name from step 5. EG; in our instance it would be \\doctor-01\argusincoming) 9. Within Path for outgoing messages: type in: \\<YOUR-COMPUTER-NAME>\ArgusOutgoing\ (substitute <YOUR-COMPUTER-NAME> with your computer name from step 5. EG: in our instance it would be \\doctor-01\argusoutgoing) 10. Tick Use as default messaging provider if applicable. 11. Click Save on our Messaging provider window, then click Save on the Configuration window. You have now successfully completed the sending side of the Best Practice configuration! (Now we need to test that it works...)

TESTING ARGUS & BEST PRACTICE CONFIGURATION: MAKING SURE IT WORKS: To be sure your Argus and Best Practice configuration is working correctly and so you can confirm the site you are at can confidently send items from Best Practice via Argus, below is a list of steps to test everything is in the right place. We will prepare a new referring practitioner within Best Practice, ensure they re in the Argus address book, compose a letter based on a test patient and drop a file for ArgusAgent. ArgusMessenger will then automatically send your test message out to our support staff. 1. Open ArgusMail and click on Tools up the top, then click Address Book. Click Add, search for Argus Support highlight Support, Argus (Argus Support) and click Add. 2. With Best Practice open, click on View in the menu up the top, and click on Contacts. Click on Add New Give it the name Argus Support and the email address helpdesk@argusconnect.com.au. Drop down Messaging Provider and specify Argus as the preferred method. Click Save. 3. We now need to compose a new letter within Best Practice based on a test patient, to do this click on Utilities in the menu up the top and select Word processor. Double click on the Template you wish to use down the very bottom left. Select the referring practitioner as Argus Support. Select a TEST PATIENT that can be used, you must avoid sending real data to our Support staff in the interest of confidentiality and privacy. When you re ready, click on File and click on Export HL7. If it prompts you for a location to export the HL7 file to, please navigate to the Path for outgoing messages (which in our instance was \\doctor-01\argusoutgoing\) and click Save. Instantly a REF (HL7) file will appear in the Outgoing directory. Within 20 minutes ArgusAgent will pick up the file from the Outgoing directory. Within 20 minutes ArgusMessenger will complete a send & receive and send the file to Argus Support. If you wish to speed this process up, you can open ArgusAgent manually and use the 10 second count down timer to pick up the file that Best Practice has dropped. You can also open ArgusMessenger and complete a manual send/receive, this is done in the Action menu up the top of ArgusMessenger. It s important to keep in mind that if you don t let this process happen automatically, it will not prove that Argus will work automatically in the back ground. Call the Argus Support desk on (03) 5335 2221 to see if your test message has been received successfully.

INSTALLING ARGUS CLIENT (OPTIONAL) CONFIGURE ARGUS CLIENT SHARING: Having completed the receiving side of Argus, we have the option of adding ArgusMail to the desktop of the client PCs. ArgusMail only needs to be installed for address book management and some sites prefer to track their sent items and incoming items by watching ArgusMail. The cheat sheet on the very last page of this documentation describes how having ArgusMail available on your client machine may be an advantage. SHARING ARGUS CLIENT: To begin, we need to share out the client directory of your Argus Installation. 10. Double click on your My Computer icon. (It may be on your desktop or in your Start menu) 11. Double click on the C drive (often Local Disk (C) ) 12. Double click on Program Files (you may need to show files ) 13. Double click on Argus and right click on Client 14. Click on Sharing and Security... 15. Click on Share this folder and change the name to ArgusClient. Click on Permissions. 16. Tick the Allow Full Control box, click OK. 17. Click on the Security tab across the top, click Add. 18. In the box, type everyone, and click OK. 19. Click on Everyone once, and tick the Allow Full Control box. Click Okay. Can t see Sharing and Security...? Click Tools, Folder Options, View, at the very bottom and un-tick Use simple file sharing.... You can now close the Argus window you had open, the steps above allows all computers in your network to connect to the ArgusClient setup. You can now go to the first PC you wish to configure for sending using Argus.

INSTALLING ARGUS CLIENT ON OTHER PCS: Navigate to your file share which ever way you are familiar, we recommend the steps below. These steps will vary depending on your network configuration, if you need further assistance with these steps please don t hesitate to contact your IT support or the Argus Support team. To bring up the Argus Client Setup program, use the following steps. You will need to know the computer name that Argus-Messenger has been installed on. This information was listed as part of the prerequisites. In these steps, substitute ARGUSSERVER with the correct PC name. 1. Click on Start, click on Run. 2. Type in \\ARGUSSERVER\ArgusClient - click Okay. (no backslashes, no spaces, no quotation marks) (The ArgusClient folder should appear on screen.) 3. Double click on Client Setup.exe. 4. Click on Install in the menu. 5. Click on Install Everything. (There is no prompt). 6. Close the Client Setup. You should now run Argus Mail (a new icon should have appeared on your desktop). It will prompt you for a username, password, database location and hostname. Enter the username and password you specified for Argus Mail (usually an abbreviation of the site name).
