GE Digital Energy D20MX v1.40 Release Notification Date: September 10, 2014 Classification: GE Information Product Bulletin Release Notification of D20MX v1.40 The D20MX Substation Gateway is a specialized computing platform which executes communications and energy management applications for monitoring and control of electrical substations. The D20MX is capable of consolidating data from multiple slave devices connected through communication channels (DCA: Data Collection s) and D20 Input / Output Modules in a single database. The D20MX can execute local logic, aggregate data, process data through one of multiple applications (DTA: Data Translation s) and report data upstream to master stations through different server protocols (DPA: Data Processing s). The new D20MX processor card is a pin-for-pin compatible replacement for all generations of the D20 SBC, providing the latest revisions of common D20 applications and performance enhancements to support NERC-compliant Cyber security. D20MX v1.33 has been replaced by D20MX v1.40. The minimum version of SGConfig required with D20MX v1.40 is v8.1. However, v8.2 or higher is recommended. SGConfig v8.2 is available for download free-of-charge from GE s technical support Website. CDs can be ordered through GE s Grid Automation Online Store under part number 588-0082 V8.20/00. Version 8.2 supersedes earlier versions of SGConfig software. Additional Configurable s and Additional Features The following applications have been introduced for this release: ID* Base D20 Classic Version Name Description A048 210 Status Combination DTA A186-0 213 Western Power Distribution (WPD) DTA Provides one ore more DI points, each of which provides an event-driven logical OR of a set of mapped system DI points. Calculates power from monitored voltage, current, and phase angle. Also, performs time integrated analog averaging, relative to the top of the hour. 2014 General Electric Company. ID* Base D20 Classic Version Name Description A193-0 302 Top of the Hour Analog Averaging DTA A194-0 101 Cooper 2179 DCA A104-0N 124 Alarm Grouping DTA for the D20MX A121-0 200 Automatic Frequency Selection DTA A161-0 301 Secondary Master Trip/Close DTA B080-0 214 IEC 60870-5-103 DCA B119-1N 103 LAN Redundancy Manager DTA Performs time integrated analog averaging, relative to the top of the hour. Monitors and controls Cooper devices using the Cooper 2179 protocol. Note: This is a licensed application. Provides DI points each representing a group alarm. The group alarm is generated when the number of DI points in the alarm state exceeds the group threshold value. Provides AI points each derived from an Automatic Selection Method (ASM). An ASM selects the highest priority valid frequency measurement from a group of AI points. Translates control requests into conventional trip/close operations in conjunction with secondary control operations to be used as a Secondary Master Trip or Close. Monitors and controls devices using the IEC 60870-5-103 protocol. Provides health and active pseudo DI points for LAN Ports, as well as default gateway monitoring and advanced routing configuration. * The N in the Number implies that the application definition has changed from the indicated D20 Classic application definition version. The D20MX version of the application is based on this D20 classic application version. However, the D20MX version is not identical to the D20 classic version due to minor changes to improve the robustness and security of the original application. The following new features have been added for this release: Field upgradeability of FPGAs and boot loaders After upgrading to D20MX firmware v1.4 and SGConfig v8.2, you will be able to bring the D20MX s Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and boot loaders to the latest version, even if you had opted not to upgrade them in previous releases. This allows you to benefit from improvements such as better D.20 link compatibility and traditional SYSFAIL operation. Previously you would have been required to return the D20MX to the factory in order to update the FPGAs. This is no longer necessary as of v1.4. Refer to the sections on the Hardware Support Package in 994-0140 D20MX Instruction Manual V14x for further information. PRBT-0331 2 GE Information
Syslog Configurable RS-232 Console Baud Rate User Log CSV File Export Improved robustness DNP DPA SBO compatibility The syslog HOSTNAME field now allows for a text-based host name and identifies from which CCU in a redundant system a log originated. Refer to B014-1NCG WESMAINT II+ for the D20MX Configuration Guide V640 available on the D20MX Documentation CD (GE part number 588-0075 V140/00) for further information. The baud rate of the front RS232 console port can now be specified in the order code of a D20MX. In addition, you can configure the console baud rate using the D20M shell command jbaud. Once the jbaud command is executed, the console baud rate will be permanently set to the specified baud rate (either 9600 or 19200) until the jbaud command is executed again. The WESMAINT User Log can now be exported to a CSV file that can be retrieved using an SFTP client. Refer to B014-1NUG WESMAINT II+ for the D20MX Users Guide V640 available on the D20MX Documentation CD (GE part number 588-0075 V140/00) for details. The D20MX now verifies the version of the firmware applications against the version of the appldefs in the configuration before starting the applications. This prevents the system from going into disabled mode when the wrong configuration is downloaded to the D20MX. The DNP DPA is now configurable to allow poll requests in between a Select and Operate request. This allows for compatibility with some master stations that need to acquire data when an operator has selected a control point but not yet operated the control. This feature is disabled by default and it is not recommended that this setting be used unless the master station requires it. Refer to B021-1NCG DNP V300 DPA for D20MX V992 and V915 available on the D20MX Documentation CD (GE part number 588-0075 V140/00) for further information. What s next? To upgrade the firmware and Hardware Support Package to version 1.40: 1. Obtain the D20MX v1.40 Documentation Zip File (part number 588-0075 V140/00) from GE customer service (see contact information below). This file can also be downloaded from the: GE technical support library under the D20MX folder, or the GE Digital Energy Web site. 2. Extract the zipped folder. 3.
