Flagship Project 1 - The State-of-the-Art Clean Technologies (SOACT) Handbook As a Flagship Project, APP members shared the State-ofthe-Art Clean Technologies (SOACT) relating to environmental protection and energy saving, and compiled the SOACT Handbook. - 23 of environmental protection technologies - 63 of energy saving technologies The SOACT Handbook was posted on the APP website in January, 2008 and available to the public. Theoretical* Reduction Potential from Diffusion Survey Theoretical reduction potential by 10 major technologies from SOACT were calculated in 2007 for the original APP 6 countries. New data, mainly provided from Canada, were added and some incorrect data were modified in 2009. Reducing Potential Based on Data of 2005 Energy (PJ) 1705.15 15 CO2 (Million tonne/y) 129 SOX (Million tonne/y) 0.67 NOX (Million tonne/y) 0.29 * Energy is estimated by JISF. * Theoretical means all technologies applied in all countries regardless of barriers -- Page 7 --

Some Consideration for Activities 1. Strength of APP Public Private Partnership Sectoral Expertise Participation of major players 2. Weakness of APP Weak relation to public finance Climate change bias (?) should carry on strength of APP while addressing its weakness -- Page 11 --
