In late 2011, one of Inchcape s brands, Audi, was planning a new flagship dealership to be built in Swindon, Wiltshire, UK. The dealership brief stipulated full uncompressed HD video and audio distribution from multiple sources to multiple display points and multi-channel audio signals split and switched between 2 main zones within the dealership: front of house and rear of house. used business events such as launches, presentations, seminars, trainings and conferences, with an output synergy across all displays in the dealership being a specific requirement for corporate events to enable all screens to display the same content throughout the entire site. Inchcape turned to data cabling and audio visual design/ installers Modular Cabling Systems for the latest HDMIbased high definition integrated AV solution. Given the architecture and minimalist feel to the dealership, the integrated AV system had to be discreet. Modular Cabling also facilitated Audi s presentation requirements within the boardroom by enabling users to locally connect sources to the 70 smart board featuring HDMI and VGA. Modular Cabling s aim was to provide a flexible integrated system capable of switching numerous high definition video and audio sources to a network of displays, which could primarily be controlled by reception staff or at the comms room via an RTI control system. A professional commercial quality sound distribution system was chosen to best handle audio requirements throughout the dealership, comprising of Cloud series hardware including DCM-1 (Digital Control Zone Mixer) incorporating a paging control. An 8 channel x 50W cloud power amplifier with 100v line impedance matching transformers was selected to drive the audio, with remote source controls enabling the selection of different sources within a specific zone. The audio source hardware included three FM/DAB radio tuners and one ipod. To provide the professional boardroom solution, Modular Cabling chose a WyreStorm SW-0801 8:1 HDMI switcher to manage distribution of all local boardroom AV inputs; giving the client a convenient central hub of connectivity and control to the Smart Board and boardroom projector using just output. As this impressive dealership system is in full and constant use by the Audi staff every day of the week, this successful integration has proven itself to be as intuitive and reliable in performance as the it was smooth and efficient to install. Modular Cabling Systems approached WyreStorm to help achieve the distribution across an 8-screen network comprising of a variety of 42 to 55 LG screens supplemented in the boardroom by a 70 smart board with integrated freeview/blu-ray player and a host of multiformat AV inputs, including HDMI, VGA and stereo audio accessible from the boardroom table input plate, with sources and screens all managed using the WyreStorm MX-0408-PRO matrix switch with 2-way IR source control and RS232 to IP control. Given the sheer size of the dealership and the distances transmissions are required to travel between central sources and displays, 8 x WyreStorm EX-1UTP-IR-100 HDBaseT extender sets were selected to distribute signals up to 100m/328ft to receivers discretely installed behind, or above screens. As all WyreStorm matrices are fully compatible with all leading third party control systems, RTI programmed software was chosen to manage content control at reception, allowing staff to quickly and easily control source selection and display location, as well as full control of audio source inputs and volume.
