Chefs Move to Schools Grant The Chefs Move to Schools Grant is awarded to provide funds for culinary professionals who sign up with the Chefs Move to Schools program to help our children eat right by teaching them about food, nutrition and cooking. Grants of $500 to $1500 will be awarded to Chefs Move to Schools Volunteers and his/her paired school. Priority will be given to Title I schools and schools serving a population with a high incidence of obesity or obesityrelated diseases. Funds can be used for a wide range of activities from garden to table: culinary professionals may seek funding for any program that promotes health and wellness in schools. For example, the grant may be used to plant a garden, teach a series of classes, promote or create a wellness program for students and parents, or assist in creating a schoolbased curriculum that focuses on healthy eating. In order to qualify, the grant applicant must have the support of the school principal and, where appropriate, additional school personnel. The program aims to provide coverage for out-of-pocket expenses incurred by the volunteer, including direct program expenses as well as indirect expenses such as transportation and childcare. Funds may not be used to provide direct ÿnancial compensation to the volunteer culinary professional. (Please note that The Culinary Trust may not award the full amount requested in your grant application, depending on number of applications we choose to award.) Applicants should submit this application, writing on this form or creating a separate typed document, and submit along with required program description and budget attachments, to Laura Atkinson: laura@theculinarytrust.org Applications are considered twice annually; deadlines are posted on www.theculinarytrust.org. Questions may be directed to info@theculinarytrust.org. The Culinary Trust (TCT) provides culinary professionals with the tools and opportunities to understand and act on critical issues in the world of food. The Culinary Trust is the 501(c)3 philanthropic foundation of the International Association of Culinary Professionals. Kikkoman is the 2013 sponsor of The Culinary Trust s Chefs Move to Schools Grants
