University of Rochester Specialized Degree Programs 1
Specialized Degree Programs The hallmark of a University of Rochester education is the freedom to design an undergraduate curriculum that caters to your interests and career path. But what if your desired career path requires graduate or professional education? Or, what if your undergraduate interests involve pursuing two degrees at two different colleges within the University of Rochester? If you re interested in careers related to engineering, education, or medicine, you may want to learn more about the University of Rochester s Combined-Admission Programs (CAPs). CAPS combine a bachelor s degree with a graduate/professional degree by simplifying the application process. Through CAPS, you may earn admission to the respective graduate or professional school at Rochester while also earning admission to the undergraduate College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering. Additionally, Rochester offers two Dual Degree programs which enable students to complete bachelor s degrees offered at different colleges within the university. While attending the College, students can also apply for the Eastman School of Music to be a Dual Degree Eastman student, or they can apply to the School of Nursing to be considered a Dual Degree Nursing student. Will you take advantage? In addition to the benefits of their combined programs, CAPs and Dual Degree students enjoy all of the same opportunities as other Rochester students, including consideration for undergraduate scholarships, the flexible Rochester Curriculum, study abroad, and unique programs such as Take Five, a tuition-free fifth year to pursue an interest outside of your major. 2 University of Rochester Specialized Degree Programs
Combined-Admission Programs Careers in engineering, education, and medicine are in high demand and can be vastly rewarding fields, but the path required to get there can be a long one. Rochester s Combined-Admission Programs among just a few such programs in the country can help you get there faster and achieve greater success along the way by: eliminating the graduate/professional school entrance exam requirement (GRE, MCAT, etc) granting simultaneous admission to both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs giving you a head start with your interests as you build connections with your advisors, professors, guest speakers, internships, and classmates. That leaves you with one less test to take, one less (lengthy) application process, and a lot more time to focus your energy on the coursework and activities that interest you. As a student interested in engineering (GEAR), education (GRADE), or medicine (REMS), you do not have to give up any activities or interests that you would pursue as any other undergraduate student.
