Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2006 I. How to modify Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2006 to prompt you for applications attempting to access your network and the internet. 1) Right-click the Trend Micro icon (in the system tray, next to the clock), then select Open Main Console. 2) Select the Network Security menu option from the navigation pane on the left side of the screen. 3) Select Personal Firewall from the Network Security area
4) In the Manage Profiles section, select the profile used for this computer when Peachtree is running.
5) Select the Edit icon.
6) Select the Exceptions tab.
7) Uncheck any user defined or custom exceptions from the list.
Note: Temporarily disabling custom or user defined rules, should allow you to be prompted again when new applications are started. You should not have to disable the standard or default rules. Once you have configured your firewall to allow Peachtree Accounting to run on your network, it is recommend that you re-enable your custom or user defined rules. For more information about the standard or default rules, please see your firewall user guide or the vendors website. 8) When you start the Peachtree Accounting program and you are prompted to allow Peachtree for access, Select Grant Access. You may have to repeat this for the list of applications and components used by Peachtree Software and its database, Pervasive Software to the allowed list. (For a list of processes to allow, see Answer ID 19139 titled What processes do I need to allow through my firewall to ensure that Peachtree will operate correctly? in the Sage Knowledgebase.)
II. How to modify Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2006 to allow Peachtree Accounting to access your network and the internet. 1) Right-click the Trend Micro icon (in the system tray, next to the clock), then select Open Main Console.
2) Select the Network Security menu option from the navigation pane on the left side of the screen. 3) Select Personal Firewall from the Network Security area.
4) In the Manage Profiles section, select the profile used for this computer when Peachtree is running.
5) Select the Edit icon.
6) Select the Exceptions tab.
7) Select the Add icon.
8) Enter a description (for example: Peachtree Accounting). 9) Select Specified application as the target and select the Browse button.
10) Browse to the installation location for Peachtree Accounting. 11) Select the Peachw.exe file and select the Open button.
12) Set the Connection type to be Outgoing. 13) Set Action to be Allow. 14) Set Port to be All ports. 15) Click OK.
16) Repeat steps 1 15 for other applications and components used by Peachtree Software and its database, Pervasive Software. Note: Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2006 Users that are running Peachtree on a network with a dedicated server or a Peer to Peer setup will also have to setup the server for the Peachtree Accounting database (Pervasive Software Database engine) to allow incoming connections. Follow the above steps, but in Step 12 set the connection to Incoming.
III. How to modify Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2006 to allow Peachtree Accounting to access your network and the internet once Peachtree has been denied access. 1) Right-click the Trend Micro icon (in the system tray, next to the clock), then select Open Main Console.
4) Select the Network Security menu option from the navigation pane on the left side of the screen. 5) Select Personal Firewall from the Network Security area
5) In the Manage Profiles section, select the profile used for this computer when Peachtree is running.
8) Select the Edit icon.
9) Select the Exceptions tab.
10) Select Peachtree Accounting from the Exception List. 11) Select the Edit icon.
12) Change the Action to Allow. 13) Click OK.
14) Repeat steps 1 10 for other applications and components used by Peachtree Software and its database, Pervasive Software.
