The Electric Vehicle Picks up Speed Moving Power from the Grid to the Road Over the next five years, virtually every automobile manufacturer plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid or battery electric vehicle. Interest in EVs, particularly among environmentally conscious consumers, is growing rapidly, but they are not alone. Early adopters are drawn to advances in technology that are making EVs and plug-ins increasingly practical, while frugal travelers see EVs as a hedge against gasoline price increases. "82% of people are considering purchasing or leasing an electric vehicle in the future" "1 EV needs 1.5 EV charging station (home, work, mall, parking)" "GE Fleet is committed to purchasing 25,000 EVs by 2015" "60% of charging takes place at work and home"
DuraStation * : The EV Charger from GE User friendly interface Smart identification Fast and safe charging Robust and reliable design Simple installation * DuraStation is a trademark of General Electric Company Fast The DuraStation offers fast charging which is capable of reducing charge time from 6-8 hours to 1-2 hours with service needs of 400Vac at 32A, assuming a 24kWh battery and a full-cycle charge. Smart The DuraStation offers wireless identification with smartcards for charging authorization. Driver profiles and transactions are managed by the EV100 software application. Safe The DuraStation is equipped with a type 2 socket with a pilot and proximity contact as per IEC 62196. As a consequence, the charging station enables safe and smart mode 3 charging as per IEC 61851. Future proof The DuraStation modular design allows for easy upgrades as needs change and more options become available. The DuraStation has been designed to support remote payment and identification services. Reliable With the DuraStation, GE builds on a century of innovation in designing and manufacturing electrical distribution systems.

DuraStation Selection Guide Compact pedestal Essential for parking lots and sidewalks so users can easily access charging stations while in their parking spaces. Back-to-back pedestal Offers two charging stations occupying the space of one. This mounting option allows two drivers to charge simultaneously at one charging station. Wall mounting Offers a solution for areas with limited floor space. Parking garages will be able to install wall mounted units to provide drivers with the ability to charge while parked. Pole mounting Is perfect for scenarios where restrictive sidewalk space calls for alternative solutions. As a result GE offers a charging station that can be mounted on a lamppost or any other structure.
Smart Identification The DuraStation offers radio frequency identification (RFID) as an option for use with smartcards provided by GE. The identification process will authorize users to start charging. 4 STOP The EV100 software application: manages authorized driver profiles registers charging transactions monitors the communication status 5 The application runs on a local host and connects to the charging station over Ethernet TCP/IP. 6 Catalogue Numbers Ref.
