The Crisis Unit is a residential 8-bed facility that provides an alternative to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Individual, family, and group therapy are available daily. Psychiatric evaluation with a child psychologist is available as needed for each child admitted to the unit. SERVICE AREA: Breckinridge, Grayson, Hardin, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, and Washington counties. Referrals also accepted as long as the parents/guardian is able to attend regularly scheduled family sessions. FEES: Medicaid and some private insurance accepted. Sliding fee for those without insurance coverage for this level of care, based on income. Communicare Children s Outpatient Counseling 1311 N. Dixie 270-769-1304 SERVICES: Individual and family counseling for school aged children and adolescents. Psychiatric consultation and medication management also available in conjunction with counseling. ELIGIBILITY: Children ages 4-18. Counseling for children less than 5 years of age would involve primarily collateral counseling with the parents and possible referral for a complete child evaluation at the Weipskoff Child Evaluation Center in Louisville. Glen Dale Children's Home is an open residential child care facility for neglected, dependent or abused girls, ages 12-18. Social Services are provided with the goal of strengthening and preserving family life and minimizing the length of time the child must spend in placement. Located in rural Hardin County on 588 acres surrounded by woodlands, rolling farmlands and agricultural plots, this facility boasts 83 years of continuous care for children. The program provides individual and group counseling services, a wilderness component, an active 4-H program, adventure based recreation and an intramural sports program are provided for residents. Children attend Hardin County Public Schools. The campus program involves cottage youth groups in an incentive program with empowerment to help themselves by helping one another. Residential services are made available on a sliding scale basis for youth who are in their parent's custody.
