Student-Centred Learning Approach to Teaching Students will learn theories and develop analytical skills to construct informed generalisations. Students will be probed to go beyond immediate news-making events and encouraged to perform deeper thinking about the wellsprings of particular phenomena. Students will be familiarised with subtle power realities which drive political actors to violate or abide by human rights as well as domestic and international laws. Faculty members urge students to ask how and why political considerations trump legal and economic considerations, and train them to pose counter-factual what-if/why-not scenarios. Faculty members orient students to appreciate how international law, politics and the global economy have co-evolved over time. Classroom learning is supplemented by interactions with practitioners from foreign diplomatic missions, business associations and international lawyers based in or visiting Delhi. The imperative of carrying forward classroom-based debates and discussions into publications is a cornerstone of the M.A. (DLB). Research As India s first global policy school, JSIA s scholarly publications agenda is spearheaded by the following six faculty member-led and student-driven thematic research centres, which rigorously study challenges and offer solutions to contemporary world problems: Centre for Global Governance and Policy (CGGP) Centre for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (CDN) Centre for Emerging Economy Diplomacy (CEED) Centre for Study of Political Violence (CSPV) Centre for Africa, Latin America and Caribbean Studies (CALACS) Centre for European Studies (CES) Jindal Journal of International Affairs (JJIA) Jindal Journal of International Affairs (JJIA) is the main academic publication of JSIA. Its inaugural edition was published in October 2011 and has won critical acclaim. Careers for M.A. (DLB) Students a. Practitioner Track: Experienced practitioners who have profound knowledge and connections within intergovernmental and non-governmental sectors assists students in finding the right internships in the United Nations system, other intergovernmental, regional and non-governmental organisations, financial institutions, think tanks and diplomatic missions.
