Investment Process Elmwood utilizes a diversified, multi-asset class strategy to achieve risk-adjusted returns in accordance with each client s goals, objectives, and risk tolerance. Client portfolios are tailored to the needs of each individual client without the use of model-driven asset allocation weightings. For most portfolios, we utilize five distinct asset classes: Domestic Equities Elmwood utilizes this asset class as a growth driver within client portfolios. Our open architecture approach gives us the flexibility to select securities across the entire size and style universe (small cap, mid cap, large cap, value, growth). Additionally, we are free to utilize a combination of individual securities and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) within this asset class. Foreign Equities Elmwood utilizes this asset class as a growth driver within client portfolios. For security selection, we favor the use of regional and/or single country ETFs for proper diversification in overseas markets. Fixed Income Elmwood utilizes this asset class for portfolio yield and reduced volatility. Our open architecture approach gives us the flexibility to select a combination of individual bonds, ETFs and mutual funds. The fixed income component of a client s portfolio is allocated with careful consideration of tax efficiency. Natural Resources Elmwood utilizes this asset class for growth and lower correlation to other asset classes. We utilize a combination of individual stocks, ETFs and ETNs for security selection. This asset class may also serve as an inflation hedge during various periods of the economic cycle. Real Estate Elmwood utilizes this asset class for growth, yield, and lower correlation to other asset classes. We invest in REITs via individual stocks and ETFs that offer a high degree of liquidity. Elmwood does not invest in illiquid real estate transactions.
