Financial Modeling Certification ( FMC) Program Investment Banking Analyst Training 1
I found the FMC Program broke down the financial model into really understandable portions, allowing for greater depth of learning than traditional methods. Additionally, many of the shortcuts greatly improved my Excel efficiency. Participating in Adventis CG s FMC Program allowed me to fine-tune my financial modeling skills. The program refined my Excel skills and helped me learn the proper way to build a thorough financial model. The instructors are very knowledgeable and are willing to help trainees on an individual level. Overall, I would highly recommend the FMC Program it to anybody who wants to excel in the financial industry. I could see my Excel skills greatly improve. I was able to navigate around Excel without the mouse and use shortcuts by creating my own macros. This was valuable in the workplace because I was able to teach my older and more experienced coworkers new things. I truly enjoyed this program as it gave a very in-depth look at financial modeling. It was much easier to see where everything was flowing and why certain things are calculated the way they are. I have never learned so much about a possible career in one day. Adventis CG s FMC Program is a fantastic program that does not just teach you key strokes and best practices but what drives the numbers. Adventis CG offers professionals and undergraduates a better way to acquire vital financial modeling skills through its Financial Modeling Certification ( FMC) Program. A Better Way to Teach Financial Modeling What Makes Our Training Different Adventis s innovative and rigorous approach to teaching financial modeling and valuation has delivered outstanding results for leading investment banks. Our proven training methods are based on the following principles: 1. Designed around constructing financial models from scratch: Analysts emerge from our training able to build fully circular, three-statement financial models from scratch. Unlike other programs that simply teach analysts how to manipulate pre-existing templates, we teach analysts how to turn raw data into models that meet industry-leading standards for formatting, precision, and functionality. 2. People learn by doing, not watching: Our training sessions are not lectures where analysts are expected to passively absorb information; our sessions are engaging, high-energy exercises where analysts work through examples while receiving hands-on guidance from instructors who are passionate about teaching. 3. Analysts have specific financial modeling needs: While most training programs are designed to be applicable to a broad cross-section of financial professionals at varying stages of their careers, our training is designed specifically for the needs of entry-level investment banking analysts. We focus on teaching highly applied modeling and valuation skills that analysts will need to thrive in their roles over the next two or three years. 4. Tailored to the needs of your analyst program: We know that each investment bank has unique requirements of their analyst classes. That is why we spend hours working with our clients to design a program that is tailored to what that firm s analysts will be expected to deliver as members of deal teams. 5. Focused on productivity-enhancing techniques: In the pressurized world of investment banking, minutes count and accuracy is paramount. Our training teaches analysts how to efficiently and consistently construct models, allowing the analysts to focus their attention on conveying and interpreting the information correctly rather being distracted by formatting and inputting issues. 4
Training Timeline Typical Agenda For analyst classes of all sizes, our two-day in-house training program equips entry-level analysts with the Excelbased financial modeling and valuation skills demanded by the investment banking industry. The core elements of modeling and valuation serve as the foundation of our FMC Program. We then work closely with each investment bank to tailor the program to the roles that their analysts will play on deal teams. Through our experience as trainers, we have found that these skills and concepts are best taught through two full days of training combined with some self-paced learning. Our days of training typically last 8-12 hours, depending on the client s needs. Component Day One Operating financial model: Three-statement financial model with schedules for dividends, share repurchases, equity, working capital, fixed assets, debt and interest expense Discounted cash flow analysis: Determine valuation using both the perpetuity and exit multiple methods; includes a WACC calculation Leveraged buyout analysis: Build a full LBO analysis, including schedules for transaction value, sources and uses, debt paydown, interest expense, exit valuation, credit metrics and investor returns Day Two Accretion/dilution analysis: Determine how to conduct an accretion/ dilution analysis assuming different capital structures; introduces data table functionality and the Treasury Stock Method Scenario planning: Introduces the ability to perform sensitivity analyses by altering assumptions Valuation summary: Introduces the ability to summarize different ways to value a business (i.e. a football field) 5

Our Trainers The Adventis CG team consists of professionals with experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity, and asset management. We believe that trainers should be plucked from the corporate world a few days out of the year, rather than taken out of the workforce to train full time. We believe that our trainers are able to better serve professionals and undergraduate students by continuing to use our financial modeling skills in the marketplace, rather than becoming full-time trainers.
