TULSA ACHIEVES provides full tuition and fees for every high school senior, public or private, who graduates with a 2.00 and commits to attend the fall following their senior year. TCC has been so amazing in working my school schedule around my job. I ve taken night classes, online classes and the typical mid-day classes. I have met people from all walks of life. Jessica (Business Major) At the age of 20, I have my own apartment, my own car and all my own bills. It seems like it would be a daunting task to hold a full time job and attend college, but knowing that my school is FREE makes it easy to continue. 7 TCC has been so amazing in working my school schedule around my job. I ve taken night classes, online classes and the typical mid-day classes. I have met people from all walks of life. I think people often mistake community college as the easy way out. It s definitely not! Community college is exactly that: a community, coming together to better themselves. I ve met so many new people and even reconnected with people I attended elementary school with. It s been such a great experience! I was dubious about the volunteer hours required for Tulsa Achieves. I very much enjoy my days off from work and now they want me to give those up, too? I ended up attending classes to become a certified volunteer for Hospice of Green Country. It s been a rewarding experience. Knowing I am helping families during difficult times, even if it is just giving my time to help HGC run smoothly, gives me such a sense of pride and accomplishment. I ve also met some great people through my volunteer work. Not to mention, it looks great on a resume! All in all, I think very highly of TCC and I would recommend the Tulsa Achieves program to everyone.

8 Pheng (Engineering Major) Tulsa Achieves has allowed me to be more financially free. My parents were actually very skeptical about the program at first mainly because my brothers had to take loans or get scholarships to go to college. I had to explain and straighten things out for about a week. To be honest, I cannot express how much Tulsa Achieves has done for me. All I know is if I did not have Tulsa Achieves, I probably would not be going to college. I have made a lot of great friends during college. I have met many great people, young and old, each with a different reason why they are going to TCC. And, the students and staff are always friendly. I do not think I have met a person I did not like. I am currently volunteering at Oklahoma Blood Institute. It is a great place to put in my volunteer hours for Tulsa Achieves. Most importantly, it s very flexible with my schedule. I enjoy taking things apart and finding out how they work, so I am studying engineering. In the future, I want to be someone who creates the next most-wanted thing. To be honest, I cannot express how much Tulsa Achieves has done for me. All I know is if I did not have Tulsa Achieves, I probably would not be going to college.

Being in the Tulsa Achieves Program has been such a wonderful thing and I am glad I was eligible to be part of it. Shea (Education Major) The Tulsa Achieves Scholarship has helped me to not have to take out a loan to pay for school. Being able to go to TCC for free has made my family very grateful. My sister is also going to college and that has cost my family a lot of money. So, it really made my family happy that I could go to school for free. I have had the opportunity to meet some great people while at TCC. I met one girl in my anatomy class, and throughout the semester we became very good friends. During the semester we studied together, which really helped me do well in the class. I spend my volunteer hours at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum. Before I started doing my volunteer hours there, I had never been to the museum. Doing my hours at the museum was very rewarding. I met a lot of new people and built some great relationships. Everyone at the museum was so nice and welcoming. I highly recommend doing volunteer hours there! I am one class shy of completing my associate s degree in Education. Once I complete my associate s degree and a few other classes, I will transfer to OU to apply to the sonography program. The Tulsa Achieves program is a wonderful program if you plan to not go to a four-year university right out of high school. Being in the Tulsa Achieves Program has been such a wonderful thing and I am glad I was eligible to be part of it. 11

12 Patrick (TCC Graduate, Business Management) Tulsa Achieves was a great way for me to save money and get closer to my goal of graduating debt free. As of right now, I m a junior and have no debt. I still had to work while getting my associate s degree because I had monthly bills, but I didn t have to use my money to pay for college. Also, my brother participated in Tulsa Achieves, which made me want to be part of it. Through TCC, I have had numerous opportunities that I wouldn t have gotten if I would have gone straight to a four-year university. By being part of the African American Male Student Success Team (AAMSST) at TCC, I discovered my passion for mentoring others, which led me to start my own mentoring program my sophomore year of college. I made a lot of friends from those experiences. TCC has helped me become a stronger leader. A lot of people pushed me to be and do better. Now, I m at the University of Oklahoma pursuing a bachelor s degree, majoring in Entrepreneurship and Venture Management, minoring in Nonprofit Organizational Studies. I plan to be part of Teach For America, and eventually start my own nonprofit organization to help at-risk youth and low-income families. Also, I want to own some franchises. Tulsa Achieves is a great program. You save thousands of dollars and get a great education. Don t pass up on this opportunity, because one day you might regret it. Through TCC, I have had numerous opportunities that I wouldn t have gotten if I would have gone straight to a four-year university.
