Primary Function The principal function of an employee in this class is to answer emergency and nonemergency calls for police, fire, medical and other emergency services using a multi-line telephone and 911 systems. Employees in this class are responsible for fast, efficient, and accurate receiving, dispatching, and processing of calls and messages from and to fire, police, and emergency medical services vehicles and personnel on an assigned shift. The work is performed under the supervision of the Captain of Support Services, with some latitude granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. Communication Specialist - Sheriff Establishes a priority to each request in accordance with established guidelines and enters the request into the computer-assisted dispatch system for dispatch; Maintains telephone contact with callers in evolving situations until the arrival of personnel who take command of the incident; Determines from phrasing, vocal stress, and level of cooperation the condition of the caller to provide a proper level of response to the request to ensure the safety of the caller and responders; Enters information into computer and files either as reference material or current information pertaining to calls; accesses multiple files to obtain or insert information; Maintains accurate log of calls, activities, reports, requests, and related information; Monitors radio transmissions from field units to track availability and location and monitor for safety; Monitors radio transmissions from other County, law enforcement, emergency, and non-emergency agencies; Retrieves and provides information from the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and ILETS systems to requesting field units; Retrieves and provides information to requesting agencies on outstanding warrants, protection orders, and related information; Provides assistance, information, and answers inquiries from the public; Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with County and Department policies, procedures and safety practices. BANNOCK COUNTY Domestic Violence High Risk Team (HRT) Coordinator Opening Date: October 26, 2015 Closing Date: Until Filled Salary: $14.12/hr. 15 hours/week; Grant Funded *This is a temporary, part-time position, dependent upon the availability of grant funds. Job Overview: The goal of a High Risk Team Coordinator is to identify high risk domestic violence cases by utilizing lethality/ risk assessments to interrupt the escalation of violence, improve victim access to services and enhance offender monitoring and accountability. Job Duties: Create and implement a High Risk Team (HRT) protocol for Bannock County Domestic Violence Court. Develop a HRT to include representatives from law enforcement, victim-witness coordinators, victim advocates, prosecution, probation and parole, and other agencies as necessary. Conduct early risk assessment and collaborate with the High Risk team to develop individualized intervention plans to address escalating violence and minimize the risk of further abuse. Implement a system-wide safety audit or conduct an assessment of the current multidisciplinary task force. Develop mapping of the system, and identify gaps and challenges in order to revitalize the Coordinated Community Response in Bannock County. Provide technical and administrative assistance to stakeholders following implementation of HRT protocols. Follow-up with high risk domestic violence victims and offenders. Coordinate and provide training to HRT, law enforcement and community professionals regarding risk levels in domestic violence cases. Participate in the Bannock County Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Task Force Assist in other grant management requirements and activities. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS in psychology, counseling/social work, criminal justice or related field. Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics, stalking and sexual assault. Experience planning, scheduling and coordinating meetings and trainings. Computer skills (Word Processor, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong interpersonal relationship, team building and problem solving skills. Knowledge of resources for victims and offenders of intimate partner violence.
