Contractor Induction! Aim is to provide an introduction to the company! An overview of our expectations! Further information and requirements may be outlined by Divisional Managers

Compliance Coordinators Divisional Managers act as Compliance Coordinator roles and it is their role to:! Implement the Health & Safety System! Ensure actions on Annual Plan are completed! Act as Emergency Coordinator! Lead the Accident Investigation team! Manage Contractor Compliance

Accident/Incident Reporting! Contractors must report all accidents! Report this to Farra Divisional Manager or Supervisor! A decision will be made as who will investigate the event! Even a cut to a finger must be recorded!! Accident forms are available in the workshop

Our Hazards! We will tell you about the hazards in the area you are working in! We will advise you of the control measure

Your Hazards! We expect that you will advise us of your hazards! How this will be achieved will vary depending on job! This is to be discussed with Supervisor or Divisional Manager! We may require Task Analysis or full Site Specific Safety Plan

Performance Review! Your work practices may be assessed! Undertaken by a member of the Compliance Team! Assesses that you are working in a safe way! Records kept and this may influence future work

Training! Our expectation is that all contractors staff are competent to do the work safely! Anyone not fully trained must be supervised

Housekeeping! Ensure your work area is kept tidy! Do not leave material for people to trip over! Clean up spillages immediately

Forklift! DON T operate unless authorised and assessed by us! Do not use to elevate staff! If you are elevated a safety harness must be worn

Smoking! If you are a smoker, be aware that you can t just smoke anywhere! Don t smoke outside the designated areas! No smoking inside! Smoke only during breaks

Confidential Information As a contractor on site you may well see information and processes that are confidential to Farra, or Farra s customers. It is important that this information is kept confidential and not discussed outside of the company and certainly not with competitors to Farra. If in doubt about what is confidential, keep things to yourself otherwise you might: Disclose important competitive information or Information that is exclusive to our customers exposing Farra to possible legal action.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Contractors must supply their staff with appropriate safety gear and ensure that it is being used

Cranes! DON T operate unless you have been assessed by us as competent or you are supervised! Stand in a safe position! Be aware of suspended load! Never walk under a suspended load

Lifting Equipment! Use the correct equipment for the lift! Ensure that it is tagged and current

Cylinder Safety! Gas bottles must be kept secured at all times

Right of Entry Only! Completing this Induction enables only right of entry to Farra work places.! It DOES NOT provide you with the right to operate any machinery.! Cranes and Forklifts can only be used if you are fully trained and you have been assessed by Farra.

Engineering Design

What we do! We are a Mechanical engineering design office! We undertake various engineering design projects including specialised Building Maintenance Units (BMU s).! We work closely with other Farra divisions to provide design assistance

Emergency Management! In the case of an emergency, for example a fire: " Activate the fire alarm if an alarm isn't already ringing " Move quickly to the nearest exit, either back stairs, main door or window exit " Rendezvous outside on Cresswell St " Don t panic " Don t go back inside until given clearance by the fire warden

Key Hazard Other Divisions! You may need to visit other Farra divisions! Please review appropriate hazards on this induction programme for those divisions

Emergency Management! In the case of an emergency, for example a fire: " Activate the fire alarm if an alarm isn't already ringing " Assemble at the carpark on Fryatt St " Don t panic " Don t go back inside until given clearance by the fire warden

Key Hazard - Weld Flash! Do not look at anyone welding and always wear safety glasses near anyone welding! Weld Flash is very very painful

Key Hazard Uneven Floors and Obstacles! Watch your feet for trip hazards and uneven floors.

Key Hazard - Machines! Do not use any machines until you have been trained in their safe use, or you are under supervision.

Key hazard - Grinding Sparks! Always wear your safety glasses around others grinding

Key hazard - Hot Steel! Always treat steel as being hot unless proven otherwise.

Lubricant Spills! Lubricant can be slippery, don t stand in it and let the supervisor know.

Key Hazard - Swarf! Always wear safety glasses around machines as metal swarf is hot, sharp and dangerous

Machines Start Unexpectedly! Watch out as machines start moving without warning

Sheetmetal Components

What we do! We specialise in making components for other companies in Dunedin and around the country.! We design the component! We punch it out on the turrets! Or laser cut it out! And bend it with the folders

Key Hazard - The Steel! The most common accident is cuts from the edge of steel sheets. " Only handle the steel with gloves on

What we do! We specialises in the manufacture of stainless steel parts, particularly for other manufacturing companies! This includes tanks! And on site maintenance

Key Hazard - Crane Hook! Keep away from the travelling crane hook and what it may be carrying

Key Hazard - Live Wires for Crane! The wires that power the crane are live and very dangerous be careful carrying tall objects and working at height.

Key Hazard - Machines! Do not use the machines until you have been given clearance from the foreman

Key Hazard - Weld Flash! Do not look at anyone welding and always wear safety glasses near anyone welding! Weld Flash is very very painful

Key Hazard - Dangerous Chemicals! Do not touch any chemicals unless you are trained in their handling

Key Hazard - Objects Underfoot! Try and keep the place tidy, and watch where you walk when moving about the workshop
