Leigh, Ph.D., a deaf psychologist, is Professor Emerita, having taught in the clinical psychology doctoral program and chaired the Department of Psychology at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Leigh s numerous presentations, research and publications have focused on deaf people and issues related to identity, multiculturalism, parenting, attachment, depression, and cochlear implants. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and was an Associate Editor for the Journal of Deaf Studies and Deaf Education.

HEARD primarily focuses on correcting and preventing deaf wrongful convictions, ending deaf prisoner abuse, decreasing recidivism rates for deaf returned citizens, and on increasing representation of the deaf in the justice, legal and corrections professions.
