Flash forward two years: we have 147 residents and are at 100% occupancy! We are proud to be the fastest-growing community of all the RLC properties. The management and staff sincerely thanks all of the residents, families and friends who made the past two years so memorable. It has been a privilege getting to know everyone, and we look forward to many more years of fun and memories with our wonderful residents! Robinwood s Good Neighbor Award for July went to Ms. Viola Street! Ms. Viola was an easy choice; she can always be found helping out her neighbors. From dining with the Royals to cruising the Venetian canals, it s clear Sherrill Hills residents are who make this such a lively community. Ms. Viola has a heart of service and can often be found delivering food in the Dining Room, assisting others with their meals, making sure everyone is present, and delivering food to neighbors who feel under the weather. Ms. Viola is a huge asset to the community, and the staff is thankful for her help! If you have ever been served by Ms. Viola, you know she truly serves others with a smile. Ms. Viola always knows what is happening in the community and is accessible to all. We sincerely thank her for all she does! Oak Park Breaks Ground in Katy, TX The mercury topped out at 110 degrees on July 30, but RLC staff were cool and composed at the groundbreaking for our latest Texas community. Oak Park will join sister communities Emerald Oaks (San Antonio), Provident Crossings (Round Rock) and Lakeline Oaks (Cedar Park) in providing Katy-area seniors with lavish yet affordable independent senior living options. Katy is a thriving city in Houston, Texas, in The Woodlands Sugar Land metropolitan area. Home to several world-class business leaders, particularly in the energy sector, Katy has an unemployment rate much lower than the national average. There are a variety of outstanding neighborhoods, with a mixture of established communities and new subdivisions still in the development stage. We look forward to serving area seniors with the resort-style services and amenities their fellow Texans already enjoy. Robinwood and Lakeline Oaks Earn Best of Accolades Much to the delight of residents and staff, Bartlett, Tennessee, crowned Robinwood its 2015 best area retirement community. In Texas, Lakeline Oaks proudly accepted the 2015 Best of the Best Austin-area retirement community award from Hill Country News. These awards are a true testament to the hard work going on daily in every RLC community. Putting a Patriotic Touch on Memorial Day Reflection Ridge residents honored those who made the ultimate sacrifice with beautiful singing, while Robinwood enjoyed a visit from a larger-than-life Uncle Sam. Emerald Oaks Celebrates Opening in Grand Fashion The August 1st grand opening at Emerald Oaks in San Antonio, TX, was a huge success. Turnout was great, and everyone who attended loved the food and enjoyed the band. The building looked beautiful too we simply couldn t have asked for a better day!
Serving Seniors in Unexpected Ways Summer is a challenging time for the Master s Table soup kitchen in Augusta, Georgia. Donors and volunteers are busy, and staff must sometimes piece together sparse meals from nothing but the canned goods in their pantry. Imagine their delight when they received a surprise delivery of meat, eggs, vegetables and bread from Marshall Square. The bounty benefited the soup kitchen s guests, many of whom are senior citizens on fixed incomes. Thanks to Marshall Square and the Master s Table, even hunger took a break this summer in their community. Carnival Memphis Pays a Visit Every June, the convertible-like school bus and minivans with blacked-out windows make a special stop at Robinwood as Carnival Memphis rolls through town. Escorted by Memphis finest -- complete with sirens blaring -- it s no wonder people stop to look when they see them coming! For 84 years the charmingly disruptive entourage, led by Boll Weevil and a royal cast, has ushered in a good cotton crop for the year. Whether they re snapping a quick picture with the carnival royalty or watching from the sidelines in awe of the offbeat costumes, folks can t help but be entertained when Carnival Memphis graces them with its presence.
