P6 Professional Release 8.2 P6 Pro 8.2 was released the end of December 2011. With 8.2, P6 Pro returns to a single Windows environment for both the standalone P6 Pro and the P6 Windows client that connects to the EPPM server. This new configuration resolves issues related to working online with an EPPM database as well as providing the flexibility to work offline and standalone. The purpose of this document is to help you both access and install P6 Pro as well as manage your local databases using MS-SQL Express. 6

P6 Pro 8.2 Installing the software Decision time Do you want to run a single database? Do the Standalone Installation using the Oracle Express DB Do you need to run multiple local databases? Do you have local MS SQL databases to be upgraded? Do you have local IT support? Create an initial MS SQL Express database Do the Client Installation using MS SQL Express DB Do you want to be able to run local and connect to an EPPM (web) DB? You can do either a Standalone or a Client Installation 25

P6 Pro 8.2 Setting up your database(s) Create a new 8.2 database Go to the folder where you unzipped the Database Zip file you downloaded and double click on dbsetup.bat. 28
P6 Pro 8.2 Setting up your database(s) Select your Database type. 1. Click the button to Install a new database 2. Select MS-SQL or Oracle for the Server Type (You must have preinstalled the database server and it must be running). 3. Click Next 29
P6 Pro 8.2 Installing the software Enter the DBA password that was defined when MS-SQL was installed. 4. The default MS-SQL DBA user name is SA, enter the DBA password that was defined by your IT staff when MS-SQL was installed. If you do not know these values you must contact the person who installed MS-SQL on your computer. 5. Database host is either your local computer name or use localhost. 6. Normally you would accept the default port number (see your local IT support). 7. Click Next 30

I always use PMDB as the first four characters because this is the Primavera default and helps you identify your P6 databases within you MS-SQL database server. 9. All other fields will automatically populate. 10. Click Next 31
P6 Pro 8.2 Installing the software Give your new database a name 11. Check both boxes for privuser and pubuser 12. The privuser password default is privuser (could be different if changed by your IT staff). 13. Select Use Public User. No password required. 14. Click Next 32

This may have been changed by your IT installation. 16. If you are creating a blank database for P6 schedules, be sure to uncheck Load sample data. 17. Change the default Currency if needed. 18. P6 Pro 8.2 Installing the software Select type of installation 2. Select Typical if you are going to use a local or server based MS-SQL database. 3. If you select Standalone P6 will install a local Oracle Express database and you will be limited to only one local database. Either way, you will be able to connect to a EPPM server. P6 will know if it is to have P6 Pro functionality (full local admin rights) or P6 EPPM client functionality (all admin done in the web tool) by which type of database you connect to. 37
P6 Pro 8.2 Installing the software P6 will install the software 4. Click Install to begin installing the software. 5. P6 will show status while installing. Click Next when complete. 38
P6 Pro 8.2 Installing the software Provide database information 6. Select MS SQL for the Driver Type 7. Use Localhost for the local MS SQL server name. 8. Type the name of the database you previously created. 39
P6 Pro 8.2 Installing the software Enter the password 9. Use the default pubuser for Username and Password (privuser also works), unless it was changed on database setup. pubuser 10. Click Next. 40
P6 Pro 8.2 Installing the software P6 tests the connection 11. If the connection was unsuccessful, either the database does not exist or an incorrect password was used. You re Finished! 41
