Overview Document Composition, version 5.4, contains new features and product enhancements. This guide provides an overview of each of these areas. This guide contains the following sections: New features introduces the new functionality available in your Document Composition 5.4 system. This section is for Document Composition users and administrators. Product enhancements provides an overview of the enhancements made to existing features. This section is for Document Composition users and administrators. Document Composition Product Help is updated with every release. When you open Document Composition Studio, Document Composition Client, or Document Composition WebClient and press F1, help topics appear for the product you have. In addition, you can go to the Customer Portal on our website to view Product Documentation for a particular version. This Product Documentation includes Help, Installation Guides, Technical Papers, and Technical Specifications. New features This section highlights new features available in Document Composition, version 5.4. Installation Installation packages for language packs New installation packages are now available for all supported PDC languages. Document Composition Access to Perceptive Content Integration Server Version 5.4 provides access to the REST interface of Perceptive Content Integration Server. For more information, refer to Scripts and Conditions > MonaLisa Functions > Archive Functions in PDC Studio Help. Microsoft Word 2013 support Version 5.4 provides support for Microsoft Word 2013. ODP.NET support Version 5.4 provides support for the ODP.NET driver from Oracle offering better performance for reading data from the repository DB. For more information, refer to ODP.NET installation in PDC Setup Help. Oracle 12c support Version 5.4 provides support for Oracle 12c. New compart library support Version 5.4 provides support for the new compart library to convert PDF documents to XPS. Windows authentication for access to MS SQL Server This version of PDC provides you with the ability to use Windows authentication for connections to MS SQL Server. Page 7 of 13
PDC Studio Possibility to insert new text block variables directly in Microsoft Word This version of PDC Studio provides you with the ability to insert new text block variables and new image variables directly in Microsoft Word within a new PDC Ribbon. There is no need any more to change to the PDC Studio first, for doing this. The known function to insert variables in the PDC Studio is still available. Repository reports within PDC Studio This version of PDC Studio provides you with the following reporting functions: Global Reports All text blocks used within document templates of the current system. All unused (not linked) objects of the current system. All used data connections of the current system. Document Reports Complete structure including all properties also from the child objects of the document template. All data connections used in the document template. Text Block Reports Complete structure including all properties also from the child objects of the text block. All data connections used in the text block. New MonaLisa functions This version of PDC Studio provides you with the following new MonaLisa functions. Load static documents from web or intranet links This version of PDC Studio provides you with the ability to load static documents by specifying an URL as a parameter of the function LoadExternalDocument. Dynamic value helps This version of PDC Studio provides you with the ability to add values dynamically to value help objects. This allows for instance to dynamically set a drop-down list for manual input, depending on the business data of a document. Dynamic chart generator This version of PDC Studio provides you with the ability to create dynamic charts in text blocks. There are all kind of chart types supported. For more information, refer to Text Blocks > Dynamic Charts in PDC Studio help. User rights for systems This version of PDC Studio provides you with the ability to limit system access for users by assigning the rights in their user role. Extended usability of the version label This version of PDC Studio provides you with extende version label usability: You can perform a full-text search in version labels. Transfer jobs display the version label for each object. Create a transfer job from the work version overview This version of PDC Studio provides you with the ability to create a transfer job directly from the work version overview. It also allows to create a release version and a transfer job in one step. Create release versions directly in the transfer job This version of PDC Studio provides you with the ability to create release versions of one or more selected objects directly in the transfer job. Transfer work versions This version of PDC Studio provides you with the ability to transfer work versions to other systems. For this, a new system property Import work versions has been added into the system overview. PDC Client Local print in PDC Client This version of PDC Client provides you with the ability to print generated documents directly on locally installed printers, without using ODIN. Editing text blocks and document templates in PDC Client This version of PDC Client provides you with the ability to edit text blocks and document templates in Microsoft Word and store them back to the repository as new work or release version. PDC WebClient User settings The windows size, windows position and the visible panes are now saved when closing the WebClient. Fix for defect reported with Salesforce support ticket 00610439 / internal ticket DE27352 Under certain circumstances users could open closed or locked processes in the Client and in the WebClient without receiving a notification. Using the startparameter /processid, users could open closed or locked processes in the Client and in the WebClient without receiving a notification. The parameter CheckState was added to the MWS function Process_Open. This parameter defines if the state of a process is checked before opening. true: Only saved processes (state = 0) can be opened. false (default): Also locked processes (state = 1) can be opened and thereby taken on.
