We selected one Mentor Teacher for every 10 teachers Mentor Teachers went through the Intel Courses First with help from the District Technology Resource Teachers (2). Each Mentor Teacher went back to their school and led 10 additional teachers through the training. Whenever extra training was available during the year, the Mentor teachers attended and were asked to share with the teachers at their school.
After Mentor Teacher s completed an online training module the Technology Resource Teachers could hold a Lync training session to allow the Mentor teachers to collaborate on the material they covered. These sessions were held about every two weeks after school.
Some teachers were a little shy about talking on the video conference but they had no qualms about using the chat feature. The conversation history was automatically sent to each participant s outlook. Fourth Essential Tool Actiontec ScreenBeam
Teachers need a way to project from their tablets
What is different about the Education Edition? Connects to HDMI w/o adapter
This did not turn out to be an easy installation! To Many variables with the projectors Some projectors have HDMI and some don t Option with VGA adapter requires VGA Cable Teachers wanted computer, DVD, and tablet connected Need a power source for the ScreenBeam What about audio USB Transmitter Available for non WiDi devices But Very Worthwhile for the teachers Once you get it connected it works great.
Wrap-Up Teachers embraced the tablets if they felt they still had control with the classroom management. Tablets with video cameras and microphones were a natural fit for professional development with Lync Video Conferencing. Yammer provides a platform for teacher collaboration.
