(6 new ones & 2 renewals for 2012-13) Vacancy posted and advertised; no qualified and appropriately certified educator available Grades 9 12 only For Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, and World Languages ONLY Individual has bachelor s degree with major in subject assignment Two or more years of experience (within last 5 years) o Except for World Languages Renewable 8

Substitute Permit (R390.1143) Background check Individual must have 90 semester hours of satisfactory credit (grade C or better) on a SINGLE transcript from a 4-year REGIONALLY accredited college or university Sub permit NOT appropriate for single assignment extending beyond 90 CALENDAR days A8er 4 weeks in the same assignment, a notification letter must be sent to parents of students receiving instruction by the non-highly Qualified Teacher o Visit www.michigan.gov/mde-hq for sample letter and Highly Qualified information 10
