3 Current MSBO member Aspiring school business official Employed by a Michigan School District Bachelor s Degree, Associate s Degree or none depending on certification track CFO, BOM & SPS require accounting hours Fill out a Letter of Commitment Complete required classes Three years to complete Can t meet deadline? 6 Complete all requirements Final application $60 application fee Continuing education requirements jobrelated education 5 Years 150 hours for CFO or 150 SCECHs or 6 semester college credits 90 hours for all other tracks or 90 SCECHs or 4 semester college credits CFO and BOM certification programs, 13 hours from the Group Solutions Seminar or Leadership Institute 6
7 MSBO Leadership Institute (40 hours) All certification tracks Year long program One on one coaching Online learning community Face to face meetings Starts in February October Replaces Group Solutions Requirement Must maintain full hours in one and then ½ of the hours in another track CFO 150 plus ½ or 45 hours of another STM & EDS Professional Development only recorded when provided 7

10 R Persons eligible to hold administrator certificates. Rule 2. A person who has completed a state board approved administrator preparation program or an approved administrator alternate route program may be issued an administrator's certificate and basic endorsement as determined by the superintendent of public instruction under section 1536 of 1976 PA 451, MCL in any of the following: (a) A central office administrator. (b) A principal. (c) An assistant principal. R a Person required to hold administrator certificate. Rule 2a. A person whose primary responsibility is administering instructional programs shall hold an administrator certificate pursuant to section 1246 of 1976 PA 451, MCL
11 R School administrator continuing education requirement. Rule 1. (1) Subject to section 1246 of 1976 PA 451, MCL , beginning July 1, 1999, a school district shall not continue to employ a person as an administrator who has not completed, within each 5 calendar year period, beginning with the date of employment as an administrator, a minimum of 6 semester hour credits at any recognized university or college, or Michigan community college, or 150 state continuing education clock hours (SCECH), or combination of both. R School administrator continuing education requirement. (2) Credit earned shall be consistent with the individual's professional development as an administrator. Credits completed out of state shall be through an accredited teacher or administrator preparation institution. An administrator who holds a valid Michigan professional education teaching certificate shall be considered as meeting this continuing education requirement. 11
