Application procedure 3 Application procedure 3.1 First step: Admission to the Master's program In order to be able to apply to the RWF UZH for a place on the Double Degree Master s Program, you must first be admitted to a Master's program of the RWF UZH. The Admissions Office of the University of Zurich is responsible for this. Please see www.uzh.ch/studies/application_en.html. For the study programs offered in English, it should be noted that evidence of sufficient knowledge of English must be provided upon registration with the UZH (www.uzh.ch/studies/application/generalinformation/unterrichtssprache_ en.html). The procedure for admission to the Master's program for Bachelor students of the RWF UZH differs from the procedure for applicants with a degree from another university as follows: 3.1.1 You are already a student of the RWF UZH: Applicants who are already Bachelor students at the RWF UZH and wish to continue with a Double Degree Master's Program must change their course of studies and select the desired Double Degree Master's Program during the online registration for the next semester (seamless transfer: www.uzh.ch/studies/application/master_en.html). At this point, you select the partner university as well as the specialist orientation of your studies at the RWF UZH. If you do not register to change your course of studies to a Double Degree Master's program during regular online semester registration, you are not excluded from the application procedure. You can change your course of studies later on. Page 10 University of Zurich, Coordination Office for Double Degree Programs of the Faculty

Application procedure Note the online registration period of the UZH for the autumn semester: May 15 - May 31 3.1.2 You provide a degree from a different university: Applicants with a law degree from a different university must go through the normal application/registration process for admission to a Master's program of the RWF UZH. Information on admission to the Master's program is available from the Student Advisory Services of the RWF UZH: www.ius.uzh.ch/studium/studienberatung.html The Admissions Office of the UZH also issues information on the application/registration process: http://www.uzh.ch/studies/application/generalinformation/procedures_en.html. Please note the application period of the UZH for the autumn semester: December 1 - April 30 3.2 Second step: Application for a place on a Double Degree program with the RWF UZH Once you have been accepted to study at the UZH, you must submit a complete application form for the allocation of a place on a Double Degree Master's Program to the Coordination Office for Double Degree Programs of the RWF UZH. Applicants must submit the file in person. On this occasion, an initial interview takes place. Please note that only applications that are completed and submitted on time can be considered. University of Zurich, Coordination Office for Double Degree Programs of the Faculty Page 11

Application procedure Applicants must ensure that two copies of the following mandatory application documents are submitted (two complete files are required): Complete application form for the allocation of a place on a Double Degree Master's Program Letter of motivation in the language of instruction of the desired partner faculty Curriculum vitae (with photo) in the language of instruction of the desired partner faculty Copy of the student's Bachelor's degree (or transcript of records if the Bachelor's degree has not yet been awarded) Copy of the Admissions Office's letter on the (conditional) admission of the student to the Master's program Copy of the student's passport or identity card (in the case of foreign applicants, a copy of his or her residence permit) Proof of language skills (exception: Maastricht University) The following documents are optional: Proof of other relevant qualifications, e.g. work references Documentation on qualifications and language skills must be submitted to the RWF UZH along with the application file. At this point, it is sufficient if proof of language skills is submitted in the form of a copy of the results of the online version of tests. The original language certificate must be submitted at a later date. Please note the application period of the RWF UZH: August 1 - August 31 In the appendix you will find a graphical overview of steps 1 and 2 of this application procedure. Page 12 University of Zurich, Coordination Office for Double Degree Programs of the Faculty

Allocation of places 4 Allocation of places The respective Steering Committee of the Faculty of Law selects students on the basis of the written applications and individual selection interviews. The selection interview is not mandatory. Places are allocated based on the following criteria: Average grade of Bachelor's degree or previous academic achievements Knowledge of the language of instruction The student's motivation for studying as outlined in the letter of motivation and Additional qualifications that are relevant for the Double Degree Master's program (e.g. work references, internships). The orientation and selection interviews may be decisive factors for the allocation of a place. Provisional dates of the selection interviews will be published online in advance. Invitations to individual suitability interviews will be sent by e-mail. Applicants for whom no place can be allocated at a partner faculty of the Double Degree Master's program will be reregistered for the regular Master's program of their choice by the Dean s Office or will have their enrollment canceled if desired after the selection process has been finalized. For applicants who had intended to take part in a Master of Law in English, reregistration for a regular Master's program is only possible if evidence of sufficient knowledge of the German language can be provided. If a second- or third-choice place is awarded, the Dean s Office will automatically arrange reregistration for the relevant program. Definitive decisions on the allocation of places on Double Degree Master s Programs will be communicated to applicants by e-mail at the beginning of October. University of Zurich, Coordination Office for Double Degree Programs of the Faculty Page 13

Application for the Master's degree Please note: Registration for a Double Degree Master's Program becomes definitive once a place has been allocated by the RWF UZH. The allocation of a place on a Double Degree Master's program by the RWF UZH is subject to the admission to the respective partner faculty. Applicants chosen to take part in a Double Degree program must undergo a further registration process at the relevant partner university. 5 Application for the Master's degree Double Degree program students can apply for their Master's degree in their fourth semester if they have successfully completed their study program in accordance with the "StudO Double Degree" in Zurich. The date of conferral of the Master's certificate by the RWF UZH is dependent on the awarding of the degree by the partner faculty. Depending on which partner faculty is involved, delays can occur. The Office of the Dean of the RWF UZH strives to look after the interests of Double Degree students to the greatest extent possible in this regard. 6 Website on Double Degree Master s Programs This brochure does not claim to be complete.
