The Maguire Scholars College Program/ Philadelphia University About The Maguire Scholars College Program The Maguire Scholars partners will select students coming out of the following high schools: Academy of Notre Dame, Agnes Irwin, AIM Academy, Archbishop Carroll, Archbishop Ryan, Archbishop Wood, The Baldwin School, Bishop McDevitt, Bishop Shanahan, Bonner/ Prendergast, Cardinal O Hara, Conwell-Egan, Cristo Rey, Father Judge, Germantown Friends, Gwynedd Mercy Academy, Hallahan, Hardy Williams, The Haverford School, Holy Ghost Preparatory, Lansdale Catholic, LaSalle College High School, Little Flower, Malvern Preparatory School, Mastery-Lenfest Campus, Mastery-Pickett Campus, Mastery-Shoemaker Campus, Mastery- Thomas Campus, Mercy Vocational, Merion Mercy Academy, Mount Saint Joseph Academy, Neumann/ Goretti, PA School for the Deaf, Pope John Paul II, Roman Catholic, Simon Gratz High School, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, St. Joseph s Prep, St. Hubert, West Catholic, William Penn Charter School to provide last dollar scholarship support to at least three students in their incoming freshman class for four years of matriculation. Maguire Scholars are selected by their respective institutions, must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher, and are an active participant in school and/or community volunteer extra-curricular activities. There are currently 25 partnership institutions in higher education. Eligibility Eligible students for this scholarship program will: Demonstrate financial need by having an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0 - $10,000. Be a graduate of one of the high schools listed on the attached high school list. Qualify for admission to selected institution. Students must have at least a 3.0 grade average or equivalent in high school. Students must be engaged in community service and/or extracurricular activities. Student or family must contribute at least $5000 per year to tuition, room & board. ($1000 at a community college) Student participates with regular intrusive counseling in accordance with university requirements. Student agrees to participate in an annual Maguire Scholars Program event Complete a Maguire Scholars Program Application. Include a letter of recommendation from supervisor of a volunteer/community service or extracurricular activity. 1
Application Process Complete the application, including the personal statement. Attach letter of recommendation. All applications must be submitted or postmarked in their entirety by March 1, 2016. Each application must be sent directly to the Financial Aid Office at Philadelphia University.
