1 The Los Angeles County Community Development Foundation (CDF) 2015 Housing Authority Resident Scholarship (HARS) APPLICATION The CDF awards scholarships to qualified participants of the Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles (HACoLA) Public Housing and Section 8 Programs. This is a unique opportunity for current high school seniors and adult students either currently attending or will attend an accredited college, university, or vocational program in Fall Eligibility In order to be considered for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria: Be a participant of the Los Angeles County Section 8 program or be a tenant in housing owned or managed by the Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles (HACoLA) and in Good Standing. Qualified youth students include: o High school seniors that will attend an accredited college or vocational program in Fall Qualified adult students include: o Students with an educational gap that will attend an accredited college or vocational program in Fall 2015; or o Students currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited college or vocational program with plans to continue in the Fall Instructions Please fully complete the application by typing or neatly printing using black ink. If additional space is needed, use a separate sheet of paper and attach it to this application. Submit completed application on or before April 30, 2015 by 5 pm including one copy of: a) Completed and signed Application Form. b) Personal Statement (typed, 12 font, 1inch margins and no more than 2 pages). c) List of extracurricular activities as outlined in Section Four of this application (resumes are acceptable). d) Copy of GED certificate or high school diploma (current high school seniors must turn in a current high school transcript). e) Students currently enrolled in college must also supply an unofficial college transcript from the school they are attending. Students may provide transcripts from other colleges if desired. f) Two (2) Recommendation Forms in a sealed and signed envelope from high school or college instructors, counselors, or employers in support of your application.
