SADEC - VIRTUAL TRAINING LABORATORY The Virtual Training Laboratory named SADEC (Simulatore di Addestramento alla Difesa Elettronica Configurabile) has been developed in order: to train EW (Electronic Warfare) operators to operational tactics to be adopted evaluate and choose the best to train EW operators to deal with dangerous situations of a real electronic warfare. The functions of the Virtual Training Laboratory are therefore rationalized according to the training procedure of the following EW operators: CATEGORY NAVIGATORS AIR SPACE CONTROL FLIGHT CREW LOGISTIC SUPPORT OPERATIONAL SUPPORT ELETTRONIC SPECIALITY PILOT / NAVIGATOR AIR DEFENCE / MISSILES ON BOARD OPERATOR / SYSTEMS INFORMATICS / TELECOMMUNICATIONS SAFETY INFORMATION / INFORMATIC TELECOMUNICATIONS / INFORMATIC At the purpose the SADEC will be composed by: Ground Laboratory Flight Laboratory installed in the Pioneer 330 light aircraft In order to evaluate the EW system capability, to choose the best tactics, to train the EW operators and to face the very dangerous situations of a real war, it is necessary to conduct 1
long lasting and highly costly trials of the foreseen EW asset against all the possible enemy threats. Since this is almost impossible, due to the lack of the enemy missiles availability and due to the costs involved, many advanced Armed Forces believe that the only possible answer to solve this problem is the. Virtual Training Laboratory (VTL) named SADEC. SADEC allows to perform the training of EW operators for the right exploitation of EW assets in the following activities: 1. Scenario generation thought the Ground Station dedicated tool 2. Data Bases Generation and Population 3. Territory map management 2D and 3D 4. Operational scenario generation according to some procedures like ATO, ACO, SPINS, NOTAM. (Briefing function) 5. Platform selection for training (Transport, Combat) Defensive System selection Libraries generation 6. On Ground Flight Test to learn the instructions before the test with the SADEC Virtual Flight Laboratory The SADEC manage the: a. Radar equation to determine the distance of the warning systems according to the sensibility selected. b. J/S (Jammer on Signal ratio) according to the selected power of the radar and the jammer for the elaboration of the auto screen distance. c. Evolution of the phenomenon associated to the launch of chaff and flare for a right training of flight profile to perform. d. Flight data recording for on ground replica (Debriefing) The SADEC, in the flying laboratory configuration, will be provided with two display Touch Screen for the operations of monitoring and control relevant to the Flight Instrumentation and the Electronic Warfare. 2
The Control & Monitoring of EW perform are managed by a SW named EWSIM, instead the Control & Monitoring of relevant to the flight instrumentation are managed by a SW named NAVTAB. The NAVTAB will include: IAUS (Integrated Avionics Unit Software) ADCS (Air Data Computer Software). MUS (Magnetometer Unit Software). AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference Software). EAUS (Engine/Airframe Unit Software). for the flight parameters presentation and control/replica. During the flight the NAVTAB allow the Terrain presentation in 3D or 2D for the mission visualization. 3
The EWSIM will allow the Control via Touch Screen and the presentation of the events relevant to the EW, according to the platform selected: In the following picture will be show the typical HMI, used in EWSIM rappresentation Modern Platform Display 4
